Some discussion of the Dev's progress may relate back to their stated business model and is warranted.

But note that this thread - and every game thread - is about the game, first and foremost.

My statement was about the game. I said I was once bitten and twice shy with regards to even trying it and would be waiting to see if there were any future releases based on the dev's track record. I don't think that's off topic at all, but whatever.

Well since my post deleted, i think it is better for silkandmilk to lower his rendering quality(to reduce the cost maybe?) and go for more quantity , he cannot achieve the same thing (in terms of luckiness) like the other dev that i mentioned on my deleted post.

I think the dev already taught about the quantity/quality question, in my opinion he takes pleasure working on high quality renders & would love to continue at full time working on the game.We all need money to make a living.
I hope the best for the game.

I liked the story, the revelation at the end gutted me. To bad about the apparent attitude of the dev, can another take this and run with it if he does give up on it?

My post has been deleted. I want to make one thing clear so no one has any doubts and my last post about it:

I don't have any problem with the dev making money. I really want everyone to earn decent money and have a great carefree life. The only problem is that he asked for something out of reality for something that started now and that in the past project left a bad impression, not for the quality of the game but what he did with the project.

How am I going to support him for some development if I have doubts whether it will finish or not? As mentioned before, to start earning something descent from the beginning, he has to build a foundation first. If he does it, people will pay wharever he want from the beginning without questioning anything.

I just wanted to warn the dev that this is not the right way for him to achieve what he wants to. I hope he takes that into consideration.

Good luck with the project.

Well, like the last one the dev did, this game looks really promising. Renders are great, characters seem well written and plot looks like it will become really interesting.

Also due to the last (and other dev related stuff), I'm not going to hold my breath it'll ever be finished which is a shame.

Very promising game ruined by the desire to make money of its creator, this is still a hobby, if you do not have the pc to do it, do not get involved, if you want to make a fortune with this, do not get involved or at least do not try to do it at first. Many devs forget that here people pay them if they want, it is a support to their work, they are incomplete games, with a lot of development time ahead and bugs, and let's be frank, it is practically reading, little gameplay. What I mean is that if you are good, the reward will come sooner or later, what you can't do is ask for money or you gonna stop making the game. Well, goodbye and close the door on your way out; money is hard to earn and these people must think that for making a little porn game we have to throw money in their faces at the first opportunity. Have a nice weekend

I feel so conflicted about this. What's currently here is really quite good. The writing is good. The story is unique enough, and even has a bit of mysterious backstory that's actually relevant to the likely interests of the player (that should not be the rare complement it is). The characters seem nicely fleshed out. They're already forming distinct and interesting personalities. I don't think I even need to mention the renders. Damn.

And I'm convinced this game is utterly doomed. If it doesn't fall apart shortly, it'll end up as one of the bigger disappointments around these parts. I'd be delighted to be wrong about this, but I'd be lying if I said I was even remotely hopeful.

Choices have massive costs. They can offer a lot too, but their costs scale faster. There are already so many choices that should have pretty major consequences. There already isn't even a really nice way to roll them up together. You could railroad the ultimate results so the choices at least stop rippling out into major storyline consequences, and you could refer to basically anything in the past so obliquely you could cover most routes with the same scene... but these are already fairly major concessions even in games that set their own bar far lower than this game has.

So I don't see how this could end well. It's wonderfully produced, but I think it's fallen into the biggest trap out there for devs trying to make something really great. It's not just about this update. It's about the next, and the one after that, and the one after that, and... It's a long journey to the end, and each choice adds a fork that needs to be traversed. You'll end up walking substantially further for each one, or else adjust the destination to be closer. And just to add insult to injury, every choice makes the path harder than the last.

Why has the link to the incest patch been removed from the OP ?

Fixed overview : Incest story about a young boy staring his mom, his aunt and his 2 female cousins.

It's a real shame though, the game is really good despite a basic incest story. The renders are great, very erotic and the characters interactions are well done (like in his other game).

But with the dev's business model we won't see the end of the game, and I don't think we'll see many updates.

Renders are of course good, as was to be expected. The Dev’s always been one of the best when it comes to making his games look utterly amazing and cinematic.

The actual story and writing itself is more of a mixed bag. The dialogue and the interaction between characters seems like it’s taken a hit since Primal Instinct. Everyone seems a bit more juvenile and unrealistic compared to the previous game, so that was a bit tedious.

The concept...well, we really only got a brief introduction of sorts to what this thing is about. Basically it’s an incest game, but one where the main character is the heir to a royal family. That might be more digestible as a basis to some than Primal Instinct was, as the fear of NTR seemed pretty big in that one. But at the same time the royalty aspect isn’t really explored much in this introduction so there’s not much to say in that respect.

I don’t know. A lot of the stuff I liked in Primal Instinct (the cinematic style and unique characters) are in this game, but the flaws...the vagueness and over exaggerated mystery are still on display. Primal Instinct’s pacing essentially went to shit and the story began to overly rely on vague supernatural to make up for its lack of momentum. I fear the same for this.

All this is of course probably a moot point, considering the Dev’s goals and basic way of going about getting support are incredibly counterproductive. I’ll be watching to see what becomes of this project, but honestly I expect the worst.

Does that mean he has to hit that goal before he even starts working on 0.2? Geez.. View attachment 1290029
Apparently if he gets the full amount he will work every day for v.02. If he gets half of it he will only work 15days during the month.

"
To clarify, if support is only $300 a month for v.01, I will spend 15 days of that month on the project.
INSUFFICIENT INTEREST IN THE PROJECT WILL RESULT IN IT'S CANCELLATION."

To quote him. Also, he's already warning people of a possible cancellation..

Was going to edit my last post, but for safety, I suppose I won't...

I guess I've got to sort of commend the dev for at least being straight forward and honest. They didn't need to, and I don't think there was any doubt it would get significant blowback, so... At least anybody going to join their Patreon is adequately informed. That's good.

I don't think it's a realistic way to produce good games in this genre right now, and I also think they are not properly considering the effects of reputation. But, that's their problem, I guess.

However this has very much killed any hope I had for having hope about this game. The only way to have a shot at having consistently good quality and loads of choices is to sacrifice time between releases. Or at least time between releases any given player will care about. This means you end up with increasingly long times between releases, or you put out releases that only a fraction of your playerbase will actually play (and deal with the negative emotions you create in them as they see a release only to realize it's got nothing for them). Neither option is really very compatible with the way Patreon is structured.

On top of all this, the game will only get increasingly difficult to create as time goes on as the choices start stacking up and creating a combinatorial explosion. The dev seems to be somewhat aware of this, I think, based on the price increases for later versions. If the dev is also not willing to compromise on his effective hourly rate... it's just a perfect storm for this never getting finished.

I'd suggest the dev focus on much more linear games in the future. That's the only way I see the time/effort/funding aspects aligning in a way they would find acceptable. Given the quality of the work, I'm sure all but the few most choice-obsessed folks would find it an acceptable tradeoff - especially if the games actually get finished that way.

I've been a follower of Silk since the early days of PI, and I can understand his frustrations when it comes to development. Why work on a product that you put your hours into if you're not going to get something out of it? The love of development? Are you also the kind of person that wants a football or baseball player to play their respective sports without compensation? You want artists to just give their art away? Working on these visual novels takes time, effort, and heck of a lot of heart to not only put the game out there for you whiners to pick apart, but to also stay motivated, especially when there's little incentive to do so. Try thinking about this in terms of you working a job and not being compensated at a level you should be and then rethink your whining a bit.

I almost cried when Primal Instinct was abandoned because the story was one of my favorites at the time and the quality of both the renders and the interesting story were ahead of its time, but without the backers there wasn't much point to continuing.

Heir Apparent is less than an hour long and some of you are saying that the story is "basic incest". Uhm... That's like saying that Game of Thrones is about The Stark Family enjoying some time at their castle. Give it some time and pledge if you're even the least bit interested in the tiny peek into Heir Apparent. I know I am.
