Is patreon money donated or is it an investment? If its donated then the money isn't technically profit and Project X would be considered fair us, right? I'm not to well versed in fair us and copyright so I apologize if this comment is cringe

Also, some news, Zeta is posting animations on her Twitter and inkbunny account with crediting the original artist, what a surprise she being a cunt.

can't you just get in contact with the artists to give them a heads up zeta is doing that? though if zeta paid them I guess it is there choice whether credit is given since it is officially theres. as long as they don't try passing it off as there own work that is.

The artist "Mykiio" who done said animations is part of the Project X Discord and is probably fully aware of this and allowed her to post them on Twitter. Though a little common decency to state the artist's name is really not that hard to do, especially considering Mykiio is responsible for the only few things we have saw in the form of progress the past 2/3 years.

I'm like 99% sure that mykiio it's no getting paid for this. Also like the other dude said, it's just a little common sense and decency to name the artist.

Zeta said the cream animation wasn't made by mykiio and still didn't name whi was the original artist.

Project is "alive," if only by technicality. The devs will promise a new update for it eventually but they'll most likely spend their time & effort elsewhere. If you're lucky you'll see an update in like a year or two.

If anyone has the know how here to extract all the files from the Project.Pak itself, we'd be able to continue it ourselves instead of expecting something off Zeta that she has promised for years and mislead people to this day saying it is still being worked on when there is nothing to show for it.

Minor update, a few months ago someone on the 7chan forums was able to decrypt and unpack the 7.4 version of the game. The decryption means the game is fully and easily modifiable, and that, along with the unpacking, means the load time is significantly improved. I've linked the file along switching the load order to the data folder (by using a blank.pak file) which means you can edit the source files directly without having to pack and unpack them every time you make changes.



Important to note, the game uses v3.0 of the OpenBOR game engine. The wikia page linked below provides a convenient overview of how the engine works.



One last thing, the boss rush mode doesn't work in this version due to it searching for files that do not exist. I made a working mode that goes through each boss, along with some minor edits like infinite lives (since cheats are tedious to activate), and also the removal of timers, and less loading images and animations. If anyone is interested, I can post that file as well.

Update: the mod is complete, check the next page for it.

The way to go would be using Paxplode to extract the Pak but it seems to be encrypted for 7.8 and that version has the missing animations.

Happy to hear!

Currently, the mod is about 90% complete, the only thing left to do is some file cleanup, a few minor additions, and some polishing.

Here is a quick summary of the new features and changes:

Bosses and enemies can be fought and viewed individually. This is done by assigning each boss and enemy to a separate arena-like game mode. The game modes also feature a system that restores the enemy whenever it is killed. (For those wondering, the way this behavior is accomplished, is by spawning the same enemy in groups of one about a hundred or so times, for the illusion of infinitely respawning enemies).

Enemy grabs/animations can be skipped at any point. The way this escape change is accomplished is by removing the command labeled "seal" in animations which would otherwise prevent escaping. Do note, this carries an odd minor bug where some enemies stop using their special attack after being skipped along with subtle AI changes, though this only effects a few enemies, and it is usually too subtle to notice, but if someone knows a way to fix this I'd be more than happy to add it to the mod. For now, the bug can be fixed by going through a full animation with the effected enemy.

Escape indicators are fully removed. Enemies transition straight into their animation without the loud warning noise and awkward standing animation. This change makes enemy animations smooth and naturally. This is done through removing the sound and animations for the escape indicator from every enemy.

Don't worry about anti-grabbing, I made it so that you can escape grabs/animations at any point by using special attack. Since that feature makes escape indicator unnecessary, I figured it would be best to just remove them since they no longer had a function. However, I can re-add them in a separate version if you want.

For the idea of an ultra hard mode, that should be possible, it just depends on how you want that to work. The simplest method would be to add a version of story mode but with 0 lives and credits, which is simple to add to the mod. But for the 1-hit kills, that could done through editing the characters to all have 1 HP, but that would effect the rest of the game. I could perhaps leave the character files as a separate download to enable the mode.

True, I remember hearing that the 7.8 version has stronger encryption than previous versions. Unofrtunately the anonymous person who cracked the 7.4 version hasn't returned for the newer one. If any brilliant soul out there is able to crack the newest version that would be amazing! The 7.4 has a few bugs remaining such as a missing boss rush, venus not applying damage correctly, and of course there are the missing animations that were only added in the 7.8 version.

Few mods that will be nice to see, one is a simple sprite overhaul that makes them always naked. Another is a sprite replacement with the better ones.
