I would say that depending on the game I don't have a problem with KN, a good example for a game that is basically a KN is MNF and that is a very successful game (over 1200 patreons). The problem with The Coven is simply that not everyone likes how the spineless MC behaves.

If the game doesn't give player the option to play an MC with a spine the choices don't really matter to me and if you look at most of the negative comments they are about the behavior of the MC.

Would this game be better if we could actually change how the MC behaves in some situations? Yes, it would but it also means more work for the Dev.

Thats the importance of choices. Add some choices in situations like these & we can say that mc's spine is still in his body

The thing is yes I would like choices to have make the MC have a spine but if the MC was written from the start having a spine I wouldn't need them but then the players that want the MC to be wimp would complain. I think the main problem is that the Dev is new to this and didn't want to implement the ability to change the MC because it would be more work writing and rendering 2 different variants of many scenes.

2. people don't want options for the sake of options. rather they dislike something (ex: MC is a wimp. more common example from other games: MC is a cuck) and express their complete and utter disinterest in such a game. Saying they would only be interested if it actually catered to their desires which are XYZ. which is perfectly reasonable.

Sigh, it's not a "porn" game, can't believe people haven't gotten that fact straight yet.....These are Adult Visual Novel's, the "adult" part doesn't just mean sex, it means everything that is meant just for adults.

I think the biggest problem people have with this game is the player agency on how the MC reacts to the things happening around him and with him, if you agree on how he reacts to things then the game is super good and all that. But what if you don't? You can do nothing but watch things you don't necessarily agree with happening and you can't control the reactions.

3. Many games on the site are not even visual novels. so your claim of "these are visual novels" is blatantly false as per all the games that are not visual novels.

4. You seem to not understand the difference between denotation and connotation. Denotation is a dictionary definition devoid of context.
The denotation of these two sentences is literally identical:

The connotation of A is sex thing while the connotation of B is pious prayer. You are arguing based on the notion that by looking up the words "adult" and the word "game" in the dictionary you can come up with a definition other than "porn game". and yes, you could do that. But that would be a denotation devoid of connotation. However the connotation of "adult game" is a porn game. This is literally what it means, it is what 99.999% of people will understand it as if you say those words.

5. There are literally tags for non pornographic games on this site. such as the "no sexual content" tag. Did you notice how this game does not have it?

That's true of almost any game, on this site or not. There are plenty of games I've ignored after one or two tries because I just couldn't get into the MC's head for whatever reason.
