So first of all, thank you SO MUCH, for making an entire archive of everything its super easy and helpful. But I am a bit confussed. What is that "HoTM64dif" is that something I need to paste over the main game from 1 and 2? Or is that something else?

For your first time downloading the game you'll only need part 1 and 2. Note that you need to extract both parts manually (and copy / paste the part 2 files), since they aren't linked compressed files.
The HoTM64dif files (one will be released for every version) is only the changed files from the previous version to the current version (listed as update only in the first post). So if you have a full download of the current version (20211029, it's release date in year month day format), when the next version comes out you'll only need the HoTM64dif file for that version to copy and paste over, instead of having to redownload the whole game again.
It's honestly a really good system for in development games, since it really cuts down the amount of data you need to download when the game updates, especially just bugfixes. It sucks to download a 1.5 gigabyte game, only to find out it had game breaking bugs and the developer posted the bugfix as the full game again, instead of only the 100 kb file that was changed to fix it.

Did you extract both parts of the files and copy and paste the ones from part 2 into part 1? The compressed files aren't linked, so you need to do that manually.
Otherwise, we'd need a lot more information to figure out what might be wrong. This applies to any error reporting, details matter. So in this case, when does it get stuck. Is it on starting the game, after a specific scene / dialogue / mission area?
Other more general things that help figure out the issues are did you follow the installation instructions properly, where you installed to (Windows doesn't like things run from the default programs or windows folders), what you were doing in the game / program when the bug happened. If there is an error message, what it says exactly and any error log that is made.
BaasB , could you maybe add the extra copy and paste steps the game needs for installation into the first post, since then it's at least written in the first post people should read for what is a fairly common issue people have with the game.

I looked at the version log in the original game, it has nothing to do with what you described here.

Did you make sure to copy the part 2 files into the correct folders of the part 1? That's where the cutoff for the parts is, and what happens if the part 2 files aren't copied in correctly.
Part 2 only has the file "Hounds of the Meteor Data" in it. That file needs to be copied into the Part 1 folder which has a file with the same name, and there should be a popup to combine the files (might also ask to overwrite, also say yes), which you need to click yes to do. Yes, there are people who don't know about a lot of basic computing stuff, and I have to assume a lack of knowledge / common sense for trying to help. I also made that mistake and know that's where the scene broke if part 2 wasn't installed correctly.
Did you extract the files into the default windows or programs folders? Windows takes issues with that, especially copy and pasting files into them. If you did extract into either of those folders, try re-extracting into somewhere else C/Gaming for example.
Also, did you install any separate translation / mod files?
For now yes, just the flies and the adult larva defeat scene update. I was just looking at his page and didn't see anything new yet.

The control and combat is a little awkward and take a while to get used to but not too bad. Some of the english text feel like google translate. The worse thing is press ESC immediately close the game without any confirmation. The characterr model and animations is good.
