Oh, that was quick!

Hope you guys enjoy. I'll copy what I posted on Patreon. It's been almost a year since I've last had a thread update. I'm feeling extra vulnerable after dedicating most of the year towards learning new software, workflow and entirely leaving my comfort zone. I hope you enjoy my spin on a popular genre.

Please leave feedback, good or bad. I got beers ready so I'll be able to handle both.

Leave a review if you have the time. I've got a buzz going so they'll all look like 5 stars to me.
Congrats on the release Domiek!

My brief feedback:

I think the transition to Blender is really good. There's a clear and distinct art style which separates In A Scent from DAZ and it's really pleasing to look at if for that reason to alone. There's some strange blur/grain/lossy compression on some renders though. Animations are fantastic. The premise wasn't at all what I was expecting from the few previews I saw. This is not a bad thing, but just something I'd thought I note. The premise is basically a fish-out-of-water 80s sitcom in the vein of ALF or Mork and Mindy but the main characters is a horny loser incubus instead of an family-friendly alien. This premise is a really good one with a lot of potential. The comedy writing itself is pretty good. I never felt like any of the jokes fell flat, were bad or out of place.

I have two major criticisms, however. First, the main character is not really likable. I feel he's written more as loser comic relief side character rather than a comedic main character. Granted, writing a loser main character is always going to be an uphill battle because it's difficult to ask readers to sympathize with someone with unlikeable characteristics, but I feel like Lucian just dials this up to 11 and it's too much. He's got basically no redeeming qualities, he's immature and stupid, even if it is funny to watch his fuck ups. I don't feel at all invested in his situation because I just don't like him. He needs something positive there for readers to like him. Even if Lucian eventually grows and does become a better person in the story, it's already too late, because we would have already spent too long disliking him. I know it's comedy, but there needs to be substance there to support the comedy.

Which leads me to the second point, there needs to be a balance with the comedy. The best sitcoms aren't just 100% comedy, there's usually at least a sprinkling of serious drama or sentimentality within it (Personal Trainer actually did this quite well). In a Scent is a bit of a parody/satire of sitcoms while being a sitcom itself, but it could certainly use a bit of sentimentality to elevate it and makes us invested in the characters, and to make the comedic moments more comedic by comparison. Again, this is a bit hard to do with an unlikeable main character. This is only the first episode, so there will hopefully be opportunities in the future, but already key moments have been missed. For example, Lucian could have serious evaluated the predicament he's in when he arrived, to build sympathy with the reader.

Anyway, I enjoyed it and I look forward to future releases.

This looks brilliant! Excited for what's to come in the future! How did I not know about personal trainer! Well I know what I'm playing later!

It is certainly an interesting take on the 'young guy starts living with a family' trope. Some dialogues are genuinely funny. But I am not so sure about the art. Some scenes look good, but some scenes are very pixelated and just looks bad. One example :

I haven't laughed at a VN so much before. Great first release, maybe they'll get around to playing Auchwitz-opoly some other day.

I like it, let's see what happens next! (y)
The humour really makes me laugh, even if it's not always in the best taste. Maybe my few glasses of rum had something to do with it? ;)
As for the renders and images, I think there's a good job too.

Loved Personal trainer and was hoping for something simular, but there is too much of a weird hairy dude and his face to be enjoying this game.

1st person view ftw.
True and one can argue that this is literally a waste of time, since he has to model and waste time on the MC despite no one wanting and giving a fuck about seeing him and a lot actually dislike a face for the MC.
