Except for possible bugfixes that was his last statement on this, yes.I'm sorry, I can't read the patreon post, because i don't want to pay for 1 day access, did he say this would be the last content update for this game ever?
You do understand he is intending on continuing this story in a new game right ?Well, that's sad :'(
More a spiritual successor though. Different game engine (Unity), different game focus (fewer, shorter conversations since he gets writer's block), different combat (combat against "human" opponents like almost everyone Billy has ever fought will be a skill-check), different power expression (on Discord I saw musing that Billy would select a subset of powers for use daily), different character renders (finding Gen 8 models to kit-bash into some semblance of the Gen 2 models previously used -- some look better, some worse, all somewhat different). You do understand he is intending on continuing this story in a new game right ?
Superpowered 2 (or whatever he plans on calling it)

Basically, the world description and character names will remain. It might be good. It might be decent. It might be bad. It might never get made. For that determination, we have to wait and see.
The biggest risk with changing graphics is the dev loses the ability to repurpose/reuse previously generated assets. So no reuse to shorten dev time.Interesting
Spiritual Succesor, you make it sound so removed from what we have here, how many games do you know that don't upgrade their engines/graphics periodically as time goes on. There is a lot in this game that could benefit from some change.
The important parts IMO are the story and the concept.
The only info I have about the changes are a few JPGs that have been posted here, so I'm waiting with baited breath to see how different it will really be.
Do we have any info yet on when the first release might happen? I really want to see the new characters in situ. The biggest risk with changing graphics is the dev loses the ability to repurpose/reuse previously generated assets. So no reuse to shorten dev time.
For me, the important element is game play and mechanics. Both of which are changing -- to what extent is unknown. We do know there will be less reliance on conversations, substantial alteration to combat, substantial alteration to power use, more limited forms of interaction with the NPCs, fewer possible mental states/stances, and that's before we see a single build. Some of the changes may be considered improvements -- heck they all might be. But, they might not be. We won't know for a few dev cycles -- and at 1 cycle per 4 months, that means probably a year or so.
I believe the dev is working on SP2 this cycle so if there is enough to publish anything, you might see a 0.01 version ~May. Depending on content and charitable pirates, it might make its way here. I would guess if it doesn't land in May, something will appear around August.Do we have any info yet on when the first release might happen? I really want to see the new characters in situ.
it took him almost 7 years to unfinished superschooler 1 (development started in 2015 at hypnopics-collective.net)I believe the dev is working on SP2 this cycle so if there is enough to publish anything, you might see a 0.01 version ~May. Ah, most of us still have a couple decades in them. Even me.it took him almost 7 years to unfinished superschooler 1 (development started in 2015 at hypnopics-collective.net)
I don't think he'll ever release his superschooler 2 before he dies of old age
Oh, I didn't get that yea, this thing was growing quite big and bloated, i hope the new engine helps him not getting any more burnt out, also he's now better that when he started so hopefully we'll get a better gameYou do understand he is intending on continuing this story in a new game right ?
