Most of this new push for puritanism is because of the payment processors and CC companies. Paypal bought Patreon, and even before they did, they were flexing their muscle and forcing Patreon to remove certain content. Recently we saw the power Visa and Mastercard can wield thanks to the Pornhub issue, where a single journalist bought the narrative of radical religious groups pushing to remove porn from the web.
Region said on his patreon that while he has a Subscribestar, that it isnt reliable cause they don't pay out reliably. Which isn't surprising. I've heard they are a bit fishy. I def agree Fanbox is his best bet at this point. Can match it with a pixiv account to post public previews etc.

He didn't use his characters out of immense love for them. Everything is much simpler, most of the SFM characters are made disgustingly have no functions and work poorly. Characters made by Lord work well and have many functions, so they are most often used.
