if a hint says not currently available, does that mean that it is locked or that I am missing to do something that will unlock it or open an event? It does not say end for this version. have a hint that is not currently available with all the girls right now.

'None currently available' is for non-route additional activities. If you've finished the routes it means there is nothing new in the game right now. I don't know if it says that if you haven't finished her routes and there is something that is currently locked.

Still wish the MC was smart enough to "dream up" a computer so he could do research on his own (the TV has internet so why not the computer). Heck Authentic Thaumaturgy would be an excellent primer on magic as one of the 26 "laws" would apply to this situation.

- its a strange thing called a book, that has information in it, largely detailing the rules of magic.

Strange thing called a book :) I love it  It is even funneier then you remember that with Caitlin we get a small library (which if it is like the refrigerator likely produces what we can imagine)

Oh for the record the Laws (which are based on how people in this world think magic works) are Law of Knowledge, Self-Knowledge, Cause & Effect, Synchronicity, Association, Similarity, Contagion, Positive Attraction, Negative Attraction, Names, Words of Power, Personification, Invocation, Evocation, Identification, Infinite Data, Finite Senses, Personal Universes, Infinite Universes, Pragmatism, True Falsehoods, Synthesis, Polarity, Dynamic Balance, Perversity, and Unity.

... as described by a society where it doesn't work. Better to stick with books annotated by an actual apprentice mage or even those specifically written by mages for mages.

Don't dismiss out of hand and don't think that magic doesn't work in the MC's world.

We know that within the universe of AHITR, there are many versions of Earth, some of which spun off into wildly different paths but also time periods, from a world where magic universities are a thing, to a world in full swing of the golden age of piracy.

We know that there are some constants within this universe. Humans existing being the main one. Travel to other realms is possible through etherwalking. Magic is common to other realms. Laws of physics still apply to all realms, even if its not understood - for example, the MC discussing sound waves and gravitational waves (and losing Rae and Caitlin).

With that in mind, we can infer a couple of things about the MC's world.
- It can be travelled to via etherwalking.
- Its among the more technologically advanced worlds.
- Magic might have existed within the MC's world at some stage but was possibly supplanted by science at some stage.

Its quite possible that magic in the AHITR universe is a fifth fundamental force of the universe, one that has its own laws, rules and principles.

Point is, don't dismiss out of hand when you don't know the whole story.

Yeah, after that one scene where we find a book Lin corrected, I wouldn't trust any book from our world that wasn't checked by at least one of the girls.

We also know that Cait looked at a book of magic from the MC's world and found it completely full of errors and misunderstandings.

We also know magic as presented by movies (a la Stardust) is just wrong and the MC replies that's because we don't use it/know how it does work so of course it's wrong.

Not just one of the girls, Cait. She the only one who has training in a human tradition. Rae has seen enough stuff she can spot glaring cosmetic errors and knows how magic "feels" (and as such can mentor Cait) but not how humans necessarily interact with it.

Actually we don't know if the Laws of physics are consistent across the realms. This is a key linchpin in GURPS Infinite Worlds where some realties have different physical laws from Homeline (a reality that diverged from ours in 1995 due to a quirk in its physical laws). One of the more extreme realms is that of where travel to “Polaris” and “Sirius” are a regular thing in 1780 but whatever they are they are certainly not stars as we understand them

Can someone help me? I stuck with Lyriel's route in Additional Activities, it said "Speaking of faucets..." but I don't know what to do
