Um, no? Not at all.Isn't that kinda opposite the whole point of "new content"?
Something which takes the player directly to the new content is not, in any way, opposite to the point of new content.
It's just a method of arrival to the new content.
If there is new content in previous episodes, then skipping would prevent the player from seeing this.
Would be opposite, in that circumstance.
But, even then, the advice given was to "skip until new content". So previous episodes, skip, skip, ooh not seen that before, stop skipping and watch the new content.
So, no. Not opposite.

The other thing you could do to get your hands on it faster is apply to become a tester yourself! It does of course mean that you actually have to test it, not just play it before anyone else
