Do I just download this game here instead of playing it on a website dedicated on games like this? Obviously I would never spend money on this game on Steam just for someone stealing it.

My yearly Reb' memory moment.

He just dissapeared, the one time he came back is just to warn us that not to buy the game in steam
I went back on the whole thread to find it. How could I miss it.

I know he is not coming back for A.O.A but at least I know that he is alive now.

Edit : MiltonPowers my bad I said can. It's could, so yeah I've found it but you will probably help some too with the link.

It all depends on the original Dev. Look at Our Fate. The Dev abandoned it. Someone tried to continue it on. The original Dev came back on here to tell the other to stop, as the original Dev "planned" to come back to it eventually. Been a few years since that happened, and still nothing new on it. It is still counted as "intellectual property" and is covered by copy-write laws on that front.
I would just say, it doesn't hurt to at least try. If this Dev has died, as some have theorized, the copy-write laws died with him or her and you should be free and clear. If the Dev is still alive, perhaps this would bring him or her out of hiding long enough to call for you to stop.
That was the person trying to sell it on Steam and TLG Games came back to tell people not to buy the Steam one and I have not heard of that Steam scammer trying to continue the game.

i'm doing my best to dig out time to learn daz studio, animation, 3d modeling, lighting and rendering. it's all coming together, slowly but its getting there. I wouldn't feel confortable continuing it, if I wasn't going for close as possible to replicating the orginal design and vibe.
Hi luckypig, Here is a post with afaik the most previews of Chapter 6 gathered by denmike92 here: https://f95zone.to/threads/a-o-a-academy-ch-5-gold-tlggames.62139/post-11680475

He will. The dev showed up when someone tried to sell the game on steam. He will probably return is someone try to make money with his game.
he didn’t actually do anything to get the game removed from sale on Steam though
Well, that's what the dev's account said here once. We don't know if it's true or the whole truth. If it were the truth the dev could've made a copyright claim at Steam. But they never did.
exactly which is honestly strange, why only post a warning on a piracy site instead of actually try to do something about it?

At this point there is no point in trying to understand what the hell is up with this dev...
Yeah I saw it posted on Steam just now and my first thought was "Didn't the Dev abandon this?" Then saw the reviews of people saying that he hadn't picked it up again and that someone else has posted it and selling it on Steam.

Seems odd that he's warned people about it here but not done anything to have the game removed on Steam cos someone is making money off of his game and it's unfinished on top of that. Very odd.

There are three possibilities: 1. it's his game and he sells it himself, but then why warn people here?
2. there were two people who made the game. They fell out and the project fell apart. One of them put it on Steam, the other had access to the account here and tried to spit in the soup.
3. it's actually his game, but he can't prove anything to Steam because he would have to provide proof of copyright. But he can't because he didn't pay anything for assets, music, etc. The other party who put it on Steam did, however.

Let me put it this way: Steam is very sensitive when it comes to copyright infringements, as they themselves are also partly liable. Should the rightful copyright holder have reported the infringement of their rights to Steam, there is no way that the game would still be available on Steam. However, anyone who makes the claim to Steam will also be asked by Steam to provide proof of this. An affidavit notarized by a lawyer is sufficient for this purpose. Steam would then immediately contact the party that placed the game on the platform and “ask” for proof of legality.

To make a long story short: I don't believe the “someone else is selling my game” story. My bet is on option 2 from my list.
