Is it actually "legal" to remake this game or simply give it an ending without the creator? I mean... he abandoned it, but it is still his, right?

But if it is doable, I would love to help out somehow!
Technically still his, technically his models used are just daz studio 3d models, technically the music he used was rumored to not be freely sourced. Ive been looking into making a chapter 6. When i asked a mod about permissions of the thread on updating the game. they quoted " i don't think anyone will object if you continue an abandoned game. This is a piracy site."

So I've been reading the og devs code in renpny see how he coded things and did things and I have successfully managed to create a place holder for the game to continue on to chapter 6. Now my next phase is learning daz studio 3d and replicating his models as close as possible.

I'm just a hobbiest tho, got a real job so I'm afraid the process is slow. Please be patient. ‍♂

It all depends on the original Dev. Look at Our Fate. The Dev abandoned it. Someone tried to continue it on. The original Dev came back on here to tell the other to stop, as the original Dev "planned" to come back to it eventually. Been a few years since that happened, and still nothing new on it. It is still counted as "intellectual property" and is covered by copy-write laws on that front.
I would just say, it doesn't hurt to at least try. If this Dev has died, as some have theorized, the copy-write laws died with him or her and you should be free and clear. If the Dev is still alive, perhaps this would bring him or her out of hiding long enough to call for you to stop.

You're a hero, mate! Can't wait to see what you are cooking!
I remember seeing some Chap6 trailers on YouTube, will you try and use those "hints" to write your Chap6 or are you going for something 100% yours?

Fuck, that sucks!
But I'm a little optimistic as the AOA guy not only just abandoned it, but he also deleted everything related to it, right?
Maybe he is really done with it...

And talking about copy-write, someone else around here said something about the songs not being properly licensed for the game, but I've foung a Spotify playlist with all the songs in AOA (even though I'm not sure I've heard it all in-game), the playlist was created by someone named only "DEAD" (also has a playlist on "Where It all Began" and "Summer's Gone), does anyone know who this person is? Just a fan or someone involved with the dev?

i figured it would be better to pick back up where we got hinted at stuff, of course I can only speculate how it would turn out all in the end but ima give it the old college try. we got to the big climax of the story, where honestly, I wasn't sure what the mc was gonna do. figured i'd start there then put a bow on it.

I think he painted himself into a corner with the story. I had no idea how this was going to go. Maybe he didn't either and that contributed to the unfortunate cancellation. I saw no realistic way to get a satisfying ending.

luckypig hum , you know i played and followed this game since the beginning , well to be honest A.O.A was the second VN game i ever played and i fell in love with the genre because of A.O.A .. and have been playing vn's since then , i dont know and never talked to "TLG" itself , but i saw a lot of his posts on patreon at the time. Honesty i would love to see the ending of it and TLG had confirmed on patreon post that Chapter 6 would be the last chapter of the game , he also had already the party scenes worked out , he was just finishing up the endings with each girls , but unfortunately we never got to that.

My suggestion if you plan on finishing like he would on chapter 6 or even taking the story further , is that you just have to think about the party that the Mc is going with Jenny and about the execution of her brother , after that i think he would hit us with the "happy endings" with each different girl and stuff . I think the hard part is to figure out how the party would went , because the endings you can just make it whatever.

Is also sad for the fact that he changed a lot of the story because of the patreons that were bothering him a lot because of the lack of sex scenes , he made a sad post one time saying he was sad how the story was going because of the patreons keep bothering him about that and he had to change a bit of the story to "please" the patreons , because he wanted to create a "slow burn" game , where you had to build your trust with the girls and stuff like that.
Thats all i can remember from back in the days posts from his patreon.

Now for your question about the "dead" guy from spotify , i dont know him, but he has a channel on youtube with the same name with a hundreds of vn's soundtracks , so he is just a fan of the genre i could say.

Anyway i think thats all i can think of , if you plan on finishing or continuing the story , i wish you a good luck. :D

i'm doing my best to dig out time to learn daz studio, animation, 3d modeling, lighting and rendering. it's all coming together, slowly but its getting there. I wouldn't feel confortable continuing it, if I wasn't going for close as possible to replicating the orginal design and vibe.

I would be very much interested, as I am currently researching how to use Daz studio 3d now and am trying to replicate the models as closely as possible. ‍♂
This is from a Violet Patron of the AOA Discord Kai Guy Incognito, who also found Environment models used in the game.

Valery Base Asset before make-up (AOA Academy)
Daniella for Genesis 8 Female
by Artist: Daz Originals

Valery Body Tatoo Asset (AOA Academy)
SkinWorks L.I.E. Tattoos for Genesis 3 and 8
by Artist: Daz Originals Pixeluna

Valery (AOA Academy) Hair
Jett Hair for Genesis 8 Female(s)

Good luck on your endeavors, my guy. I'm looking forward to the day you actually make it.

Someone should definitely take over that project and continue it. It's such a shame dev abandoned this game
I think you have - as many others - the wrong idea how this works. When someone starts a projects, they effectively own the stuff. It is not public domain and open for grabs. Just because it seems to be free doesnt mean it is free of rights. So any notion of project take-over requires the owner's willingness to pass it on in the first place. Otherwise anyone is free to replicate but that still requires the full effort.

what you should do is create your own game with an original story. that will be so much better than breaking copyright laws. no offense.
