Nobody knows why he disappeared and I don't think he will return to work on AOA Academy... and even if he returned, I wouldn't trust him at all. He went away two years ago when the episode they never arrived was about to be released, he could do the same if he wanted.
yes they've made as much money as they can, and then shut up shop, in this case abandon the game that made them money. Sadly I am beginning to think AVN's are fast becoming a thing of the past, the more games get abandoned the less interested people will be, when new vn's appear with decent developers who will commit until their game is finished, which is going to be far too late sadly. Patreon + Renpy = is a scam artist's paradise. In this case I am guessing since the last update was over 2 years ago now, either the dev has milked his patrons for all he can, or something has happened to him..maybe changed his name and making another vn with the aim of abandoning it too, no one would be the wiser either. Truly sad and shocking state of affairs. I came here hoping for an update, since i'd forgotten about it. I had it on my ssd from several years ago, and thought I needed to update it..to find it abandoned.
Yeah know what you mean recently looked through all the games and the amount of decent and even some great games thats been abandoned over just the last couple years was kinda shocking imo
I've seen worse. Like some dev still getting paid $500 a month for a game that was abandonned 4 years ago! Maybe this one ran with the money, but he did not leave the subscribers paying for a remote hope of seeing this one get finished...
unless it's the original developer creating it, or using the original developer's own notes, it wouldn't be the same story nor the same game. Every developer has their own ideas, their own story writing abilities, which basically means it wouldn't be the same story, even if it was the same looking models /assets etc. You really wouldn't want anyone else to continue this unless it was the original developer.
You have the game? Sell it at It.chio and you will see him returning here to "warn us" about the scam. Maybe this time he will stay a bit more and say something about the future of AOA Academy.
Thanks. Didn't know we could request a refund on games on there. I didn't know it was posted on there by someone other than the Dev. Plus, if I had known it was abandoned, I wouldn't have bought it anyway.
i would 100% want someone else to continue the game. there is enough story, and character development there that they can progress and expand off that. it likely wouldn't be the story that the ghostly dev envisioned for the game, but that dev ghosted everybody a long time ago without a peep or explanation. they even came back a year+ later to say don't buy the steam version, and wasn't even considerate enough to give a reason for leaving/abandoning. i fully support someone taking this and continuing it (if the ghostly dev comes back and/or gives a statement on why they abandoned then i will fully retract my statement)
