So this game gone forever
It sadly looks that way. When the Dev returned, he showed no interest in reviving it.
The whole thing was so weird, since it was just a few weeks before the supposed release of the next chapter, so why not just release it? Could be he stopped developing sooner than people assumed and there was no next part. Could be he was milking in the end and just left.

He didn't show interest in anything other than to say that he wasn't the one who published the game on Steam. I also think the same about this issue of him being able to at least have published what he had already done for the next episode, a huge mistake on his part for him to act like a ghost.

Just checked AOA & Game of Hearts. Definitely some similarities are there, but instead of the same auther, it's rather looks like someone take inspiration from his art style. That means it could be him, but also it could't be him. For me the games are surely not so similar to say it's TLG. Some similarities yes, but not so many. IMHO it's not him.

Games like this make me wish some dev would continue games like these somehow, I highly doubt the Dev of this game could or would take any action against someone taking the IP and continuing it.
Yeah, we see as example the Steam scam case

TLG returned from the dead to warn people about the Steam scam 2 years ago, so yes, he would mind if someone decided to take his IP and continue the story. It's obvious he isn't interested in continuing AOA Academy, nor in letting someone else take the reins of his work.
I don't believe a word about this so called scam. Steam is very sensitive when it comes to copyright infringements, as they themselves are also partly liable. Should the rightful copyright holder have reported the infringement of their rights to Steam, there is no way that the game would still be available on Steam. However, anyone who makes the claim to Steam will also be asked by Steam to provide proof of this. An affidavit notarized by a lawyer is sufficient for this purpose. Steam would then immediately contact the party that placed the game on the platform and “ask” for proof of legality.

To make a long story short: I don't believe the “someone else is selling my game” story. Personally I believe there were two people who made the game. They fell out and the project fell apart. One of them put it on Steam, the other had access to the account here and tried to spit in the soup.

The other theory that fits is that the rumor of him getting in trouble 'cause he's in a country that doesn't allow making such content, so he can't fight the Steam launch without getting in more trouble.

Either way, it's all just speculation on our parts. If someone with talent remade/continued this game and it was good, I personally don't really care about TLG's claim anymore. If anything fits the "abandoned" category this one does, so good luck to anyone that tries.

The real problem with any attempt at a continuation is not having the creator's plans to work from, making it likely that any attempt would miss the mark in some way.

Of course, someone could create a similar game with a similar story and characters. It won't be the same (at least not if they're any good) but it could be as good.
