That's mainly because DPC hates modders. He puts anti-modding in his code.

Scrappy, the final chapter 4 version just got dropped today, albeit the creator of the game will probably update it via bugfixes. We hope you finally update this mod asap. Been waiting on playing a completed chapter 4 for awhile and with this mod we can experience all it has to offer.

That is how it is, if you use a mod for any game and try to continue a new update without an update to the mod the game won't run.

IIRC, the gold version adds extra images for the sex scenes but sometimes there are choice menus added for versions of those sex scenes. IMO, waiting until the gold version leaks is a better idea. That way, he can make a pass with the mod on the gold edition to be sure it works. And enjoy it as well.
