I genuinely hate this game. Like, I'm fine with NTR, but most NTR is absolute garbage, as the story is ass and the only good thing are the scenes. But this one takes the shitcake, as it has what could have been a good story, but it's just ass, which sucks.
And seemingly no choices on top of that make it worse.
Like, I think the problem I have with most NTR is that the MCs are actually dumb as fuck. And I'm not. To make most of these stories work, the MC needs to have no brainpower at all. Which is why I like NTR like Nymphomania Priestess and Moon Ripple Lake. As the MCs aren't always dumber than a bag of rocks—hell, they make it a kink the MC has so it cannot insult the players' intelligence.
And there's times the H-scenes completely outweigh everything, like with Breast Mafia games, before the OG artist left Tail of Desire (these 2 are why I started liking NTR cuz the scenes were so dam good hehe) and somewhat The King of Summer.

Oh, the tent with my GF and random guy #1 is shaking, and there are soft moans.... HMM she must be having a bad dream and moving around a lot. (shes never done tht before)

That's actually not the case. For the patches to work, you need to keep every game on your hard-drive indefinitely.
It would be a nice additional way to download updates. But it always would be a second choice that only 'sometimes' for 'someone' would be useful.

I guess it is the "type" of NTR one might be looking for that is the question as you mention. NTR at its base is just the girl being stolen and the story can achieve that through numerous approaches, though western NTR seems to have a consistent theme of MC demoralization through the process of humiliation/cuckoldry and this story is the king of that no doubt.

I didn't realize this series until I played through them. The first had some means of resolving an ending (though most were rather silly typical western NTR endings), but this one took a hardline for humiliation/cucking to an extreme level.

Some prefer the roller coaster of NTR story telling which has some resolution for the MC rather than a base jump into depression.

Sometimes though it isn't about self inserting, merely the dislike for disgusting people to win the day so to speak.

I will give it this though, while the MC is a weak doofus with obvious "moronic" forced writing to him, the FMCs certainly created a ride where you went from sympathizing "some" with them (Aya mainly) in the beginning, to wanting to see them thrown into a woodchipper, then strained into a blender. So on that front, they certainly were able to show an emotional roller coaster ride.

To be fair, this site does absolutely NO favors in helping people sort them before actually playing them, and thus becoming invested in them, with many devs not caring to clarify up-front what sort of contents are planned for the game. Or, as has happened quite a few times in the past, devs taking abrupt left turns into focusing solely on NTR when the game started out something else entirely. The hostility of NTR fans toward everyone who isn't on board with it doesn't help matters either.

This game, as the guy you are responding to indicated, he was okay with APBLU's original form because it did have options where the MC wasn't a typical 'rare protag. It DID have options that weren't pure blunt 'rare. Aya edition is harsher. The player isn't necessarily going to know that until they've already put investment in. Hence why the player complains about 'hate'. To hate something, you have to have had hope for or care for it at some point.
F95 really should get around to adding specific tags for 'rare vs 'rase vs 'tori. It'd cut down on a lot of the complaints.

I think that based on description you can generally figure it out whatever game is ntr or ntrs. Netori aren't even tagged with netorare tag. It is much more difficult to tell if its kink netorare, token netorare or some people were upset with girls not being exclusive use for MC. I would really want a separation between kink and content warrning.

Only beaten by hate of vanilla people towards NTR. Just what was happening with Subverse? Like every content covering the game was spammed with comments "This game has netorare, if you support it you are cuck". It has netorare tag now still but there is no netorare content there whatsover. The first APBLU was brigaded by people trying to derail it, you had posts about how bad the writing was from people that had no history of liking ntr and with ton of likes from people that again had no history of liking ntr. Check the reviews for this game, the only 1 star review has 48 likes? The review basically says "I can't avoid netorare". Those are not netorare fans voting. The hostility is a response to the hate and to the problem ...

The problem being lack of honesty and/or self reflection from people that come to criticize games, ntr especially. The guy that he was responding to didn't say "I want good end" or "I hate it that the bad guys are winning". No he goes with " this one takes the shitcake, as it has what could have been a good story, but it's just ass". And proceeds to praise games with totally different appeal (in my opinion at least). So what do you think the response will be?

It is going to happen that you play a games that doesn't turn out what you expected it to be. You wanna share your thoughts that is fine but reflect on what was the actual problem and be honest about it. If you are just gonna write "The MC is dumb and the story is shit" fans of the game are just gonna be upset with you, regardless what genre it is.

generally any route is it's own story so it won't spoil anything, but it's better to play the original apblu routes first and then the aya edition.
the original apblu is basically the laura edition with laura focused routes(with one aya focused route and a few aya focused endings)
the aya edition is a route split from the original at around the beginning that starts a much longer Aya focused routes.

At a certain point I'm not criticizing the NTR; I'm criticizing the story and the game. The game's story being ass makes the NTR worse. The ones I brought up aren't weak sauce either, except maybe TOD, the others are straight-up NTR—no ifs, ands, or buts; NTR is NTR. It's just that they aren't trying to treat the players like they're dumbasses or dont have a story to begin with.
