On his Patreon site, he said that the person he chose has a background in creative writing (versus someone who writes technical material for ex.) so I'm hopeful that the next rev will 'read' better!

It's not a translator he hired, but a proof reader.
I believe it was to make the dialogue flow more naturally, with American slang, rather than translating from German.

so L&P will keep writing the longer we should wait for the corrector's time?

I understood that he had found someone to help him write to speed things up

Totally agree, my recollection was this trended quickly. Let me look into it for a minute.

OK, I looked. One thing you could look at in determining 'how fast did it become popular' is activity on the site. Even if it's got some (or a lot) of repeat posters, it is still indicative of the overall level of engagement with a project.

Example:
AWAM is #3 for total number of views (I presume visits to the thread), behind Milfy City, released Jan 2018, so ~4 months later than AWAM, and Summertime Saga, released August 2016, ~14 months earlier.

Time is not, apparently a strong indicator of popularity if activity is a guide. Or is it, since I'm only considering the top three out of (thousands?)? Or isn't it, since MILFY City hasn't updated in the last year (and that last year was inconsistent to put it mildly) while Summertime Saga just updated about six weeks ago?

AWAM hit 410 pages (8820 posts) in its first year. Milfy City hit 410 pages in about six and a half months, Summertime Saga took more than a year (16 months) to hit 410 pages.

Does AWAM stack up to other "popular" games in terms of how long it takes to become popular?

AWAM is #22 on this site for number of likes, way behind games that haven't necessarily been around longer but have delivered hard core content much faster and have much shorter intervals between releases.

And none of the supposition takes into account quality and content. Being a DIK is AMAZING by any standard and quick to deliver hardcore content and was a developer with a prior success here. MILFY City, similar (but maybe lower case 'amazing').

Being a DIK was released February 2019 and is currently,
  • #1 in weighted rating
  • #1 in likes
  • #4 all time views and
  • reached 410 pages in four and a half months
Conclusion:
Length of time since initial release is not a predictor or a leading indicator of popularity.
There is one big problem many just decide to ignore. You don't take into account how many posts were deleted from most popular games.
BB,DMD and DOD each have around 50 pages deleted every time when there was a new update back in 2017.Not to mention how many people were banned at that time or their profiles were deleted.
And yes BADIK is not an exception-WVM reached page 400 in only 5 months.
Most of the game with male protag games are similar, using the same tropes and cliches. Especially incest games.
BB is a good example of how to not to do to write the script. At the same time, the game is still popular, which suggests that the story is not particularly important to many, the main thing is that the characters are named relatives. And no one cares that there is no good story and chemistry between them.
Although it is building relationships that are most interesting.
Now almost half the game has done, and there are not many days left. Therefore, I have no idea how he can fix the long-term feud between the brother and sister, and also direct their story to an intimate level. They will have to accelerate at cosmic speed.
Also for Patricia, they didn't even have some interaction until the last update. The game needs a couple more timeskips to make it look more true. And LP has always strived for realism.
Well if the game was not having incest I bet it will not gather even half of the popularity.Seriously if you delete all scenes with Patricia,Ellie and Dylan that will be more than half of the game.
Of course in that case we will be already much later in the game.

Well, I don’t want to delete incest from the game, the main plot is built around a mom and her two kids. I just want a good story, a nice story. And not some porn-comedy like BB

It's not that I didn't account for how many posts were deleted, I just didn't know how that could be included. I saw WVM up there in the mix as well, just felt the point was made already - TIME does not indicate popularity and is probably one of the least important things to look at. And as one follow-up post suggested, honestly who cares how popular a game is and how fast it got there. Just kick back and enjoy!

I have thought about truncating the game to only include things that are in Sophia's pov - so you don't see any of the other character interactions where she isn't present, or anyone else's thoughts. Also would make it straight narrative with no paths. Just curious to see what that would actually look like. Maybe for a rainy day...

Just play DoL and you will understand.

Decisions of Life. The Patreon friendly version of AWAM, with the references to incest removed. Ellie becomes Sophia's "friend", Patricia her "best friend", and Dylan her "lodger". Also has scenes removed, like the day 17 evening shower, and I think the bikini show. I would need to check my copy to confirm what scenes are removed though.

Personally I'm intrigued as to why Ellie and Dylan have different relationships to Sophia.

Well he can't still call it "A Wife and Mother" when all references to Sophia being the mother of Dylan and Ellie have been removed, now can he?

But don't worry, you're not the only one that occasionally thinks so. I've had posts deleted by mods because they thought I was discussing another game. Probably because I like the ponder about why Ellie has an intrinsically closer relationship to Sophia than Dylan does. That she wasn't made a "lodger" as well, but a "friend".

Nah, that's not what I meant. I mean what would the game be like with all the incest intact, but only Sophia' POV, no additional information provided - eg., fix my computer scene, gone. Boys at soccer game, gone. Only what she sees and hears.

Fairly sure Sophia can watch the soccer game - it makes the difference between Dylan scoring 3 goals or none.

Yes Sophia has the option to watch the soccer game.
I mean the scene where the boys are teasing and he has to choose between liking/not liking them talking dirty about Sophia - she's not there to witness it so that part is removed. Not that important really, I'll probably never get around to doing it.

It's an interesting idea though. I'm editing the code on and off myself, changing details like dialogue so that it flows better. That said, I really just like wandering through the code, and discovering things like the fact that the only kiss Dylan has got from Sophia so far is "insidious".

anyone know where is this scene in the game
it look like subway View attachment 943008
Yes, it's a subway. When Sophia goes to get a haircut, she can take the car or the subway. Taking the subway is pretty dumb and pointless though, as Patricia tells her it's dangerous, and not to do it, especially at night.

And the thugs don't get up to much, and nothing worthwhile. Isn't even any nudity. And from memory, even if you don't report them, aren't due to return until much later, if at all.

EDIT:
I was curious, so I went and checked, and you don't even get any Filthy points from the encounter. Much like choosing Dylan over Ellie during the soccer game, watching porn etc. No real point since they achieve nothing in the story at all.
