I really think flashbacks are under utilized in this game. I would allow a lot of leeway in my critique if they were used to fill in substantial time gaps, even of a month or more. So many micro-events could be used to explain things and could all be done using pre-existing assets and scenes - that is, minimal development time.
100% agree and I think that L&P should have previously used more time jumps. Thus still 30 PLAYABLE days so the story takes the same time to finish, but by taking place over a longer period of time would be more realistic.

Imagine the same events spread out say over a summer and it would make more sense. Would be one glorious summer of corruption!!

Flashbacks would of been a good idea for Sophia's younger days/college/marriage/the birth of her daughter

Time-lapse would fill in the gap of making the event believable, but then you have the issues of plot holes that will develop because of it.

At times I read in disbelief at some of the comments on this forum.
I can't believe the pages of discussion about rape that I have just had to wade through.

I am concerned how this bike ride into the countryside fits in with realism within the game. It currently does nt make sense to me as the longer that Sophia is away, the harder it will be for het to explain why to friends and family. But we will have to wait until we see how Aiden explains it to and convinces Sophia.

But focussing the discussion on rape is to me, "reduction ad absurdum", where an argument is disproven by following its implications logically to an absurd conclusion.

Well, she is going to need something for leverage to get out of the blackmail the following P.D. 13 in the morning. If she can't get evidence from the Sophia/Aiden Event, that is swiping something that has evidence on it when they're not looking at the end, or setting up something inconspicuously during the event, but since Aiden caught on to the cell phone during their first meeting, Then the other option would be that Aiden would give her a task that he knows she can't do and would probably fail which would strengthen the blackmail, but Dylan can possibly help with.
I wouldn't worry. By the time an update comes out, Aiden will be 21 and long gone from the school.

It wasn't and isn't about rape, it's about this ride into the unknown ...unrealistic in my view.
Rape as a consequence of bad decisions was suggested by L&P with the subway thugs. With the subway scene I think L&P meant that San Alejo is a violent city and the criminals have no morals :giggle:
Sophia should have taken that option seriously before she got on the bike. By getting on the bike she is only putting herself at Aiden's beck and call, and if he doesn't take advantage he is a true gentleman.

Hooray, in the end she's a bitch. Then rape is no longer rape. Then she wants! Can't get enough of it. And anything goes because she's a bitch now. A male protagonist who fucked all the women in the game wouldn't be a slut but our hero.
Yes, that's right. Realism will take second place to Sophia discovering her 'inner slut.' This is one of the over-used cliches of games of this type but it's definitely corruption. Anti-blackmailers should be pleased with such a development, where an essentially good woman goes astray largely of her own free will, with just a bit of a shove from a dastardly villain. That she will make the transition has already been telegraphed in task one. As for the double standard with a male protagonist, I agree with you but that is what society has done, not us, not the Dev. There are some who, no doubt, will view the lewder switched-on Sophia as a sexually liberated woman, which is another legitimate POV. Extending this line could see Sophia as a sexual predator, i.e. she knows what she wants & she knows how to get it. Would that be a way to go?

Personally, I prefer the good woman to be forced into things which are against her nature, rather than having a choice. That way her essential character remains intact. Speaking of choices, anti-blackmailers are ridiculously over-supplied with ways to avoid or stop the whole thing & (incredibly) there are more coming up. It's almost embarrassing how many ways there are to avoid it. I would relish having the same number of chances to progress in the game without having to indulge in the ubiquitous incest but I have had to accept things as they are & avoid it when I can. (Even half the number of chances would do).

Once again I'm defending the blackmail element, which itself has so far been almost ludicrously mild, even childish, ('show us your knickers'... is in keeping with the school setting). Blackmail is NOT rape, it is not even the beginning of rape. It's prescence at least currently provides some edginess & gets away from the suburban soap scenario. If it wasn't there, (which for many it isn't, or soon won't be), the story would be like a slightly porn-influenced romantic novel. Most romantic novels today are indeed porn-influenced in any case.

I've stirred controversy before without meaning to but now I will deliberately go out of the comfort zone. [As far as I'm concerned, the more Sophia is kept out of her comfort zone, the better]. There should have been a stronger, tighter reason for the blackmail, such as Sophia accessing Bennett's personal file, digging for counter leverage to his blackmail attempt, only to be ironically discovered by Aiden.

Stating that there will be no rape, or forced sex, while it no doubt reassured some vanilla fans, also surgically extracted the tension that the blackmail should have provided. This doesn't mean that these things would HAVE to happen but simply knowing they CAN'T happen is counter to the normal game-world practice & makes the whole blackmail storyline(s) superfluous, (other than as a corruption device, referred to above), even though I still enjoy them out of curiousity to see what actually WILL happen. Sophia doesn't really know this of course, which also helps to keep things buzzing.....just.

I don't practice blackmail in RL but I won't be guilt-tripped because I follow it here. I enjoy a good war film but I don't want the wars on Earth to continue. I like murder mysteries but I don't want to murder anybody. I'm tired of having to point out that this is fantasy, so next time there's 'white knight' post, I may indulge myself & deliver an anti-incest diatribe. Peace.

Much of what is written here, in terms of the structure of the plot devices used by L&P, are spot on. Every element that L&P uses to move his story forward is in harmony and is the quintessential paradigm-shift story. Bennet's and Aiden's extortion are imperatives for presenting a scenario in which Sophia goes to the authorities that represent the structure of her world. The structure that, with her personality, she wants, needs and has followed her whole life.
The extortion has been shown to be clearly apparent to the authorities she has tacitly accepted, and at the same time these same authorities explain that they are unable (read unwilling) to counter the breach in the structure. With Aiden's route specifically, the first two tasks are designed to take place in the classroom to flout, and to prepare Sophia for this third task. Now that the rules of the structure can and are broken inside the classroom (further eroding Sophia's belief in the established system) Aiden takes Sophia outside of the system. This is the ride into the unknown (not only for us), but intentionally for Sophia.
I feel that this is L&P's brilliant moment! Sophia is working alone and developing new rules outside of the system. Aiden is allegorically and literally taking her out of the system on a thematic icon of rebel-hood (the motorcycle). This, yes this is the moment she breaks with her life-developed dependence on the system that has now failed her...to develop her new paradigm.
Here is where she will begin to experiment in ways that appear sudden or out of character. She will because this metaphoric ride on the physical motorcycle begins the journey of her new character.
If I interpret L&P's development correctly, it will soon be proven out as she explores new actions and beliefs in a world with (from her new perception) has no reliable rules. Those actions without immediate negative consequence will be adopted into her new 'faith' as she continues down the road into her unknown.

Kind of like a female version of Paul Kersey ,sounds like fun.

Sophia is no Charles Bronson. Although...I believe you have a lucid point. Paul Kersey was dramatically torn from his family by the 'demons' of society, and decided he needed to work outside of the system to end their threat to society. With Sophia I see her confronting her daemons (see Sumerian mythos) who are manifestations that explain the evils in the darker parts of our world. I see Sophia as a character that will eternally strive to understand and adopt truth. I also see that her path will lead her like the proverbial 'paladin into hell'. She is going to have to get dirty (read filthy) before she emerges on the other side. Her choices will of course determine in what state she is in when she gets there.

Sophia to emerge as a stronger/confident more assertive woman who can use her own sexuality to her advantage , kind of like Patricia in a way.
It may cost her her marriage but she will be stronger for it.
It could also tie in with the good and bad ending
The dev does seem to like basing thing in the game loosely on films

Charles Bronson.....Now you are showing your age

I agree in principal, but do we really want L&P spending time getting the lighting right in a delivery room? New assets needed for the scrubs and masks and surgical implements? Think about the days spent tweaking the pregnancy morphs, anti-aging morphs, blood/fluid decals. I don’t know what genital package L&P is using but they will certainly need some sort of obscene gaping morph. Can a Daz Genesis baby’s head be set for collision with the genitals? And of course, we must allow several days to sift through audio libraries finding just the right sound effect for the machine that goes “ping”.

It would of been a nice idea for flashbacks of Sophia but I guess too much time has passed and you are right about wasting time on this now so late in the game.

Like Kris Kringle did in the film, " A Miracle on 34th Street" I will quote Jonathan Swift regarding my age. I'm as old as my tongue and a little bit older than my teeth. Of course, being anachronistic does make it difficult for others to place my relative birthdate. Perhaps, in time you will have better luck than most.

So that would mean that Patricia rebelled against the anachronistic morality of her parents.

I believe you experienced a typo or two. Perhaps you meant that Patricia rebelled against an achronism with Moriarty, took too long with him and was caught by her parents.

Right. It seems to me that some users live in parallel worlds.
It's a game but in a supposedly real situation, the characters, in our case Sophia, knows there's no danger to her? Noooo.
On the one hand we talk about connections with organized crime and on the other we put on the brakes and talk about romantic stuff and rules.
A bunch of lads will have to wait another X tasks to get a good bite. On what planet? :ROFLMAO:

Aiden is 17 years old. Which woman, a teacher, would report her own underage student for rape once she went off alone, with him to ... unknown.
What to tell the police, Liam, her sister, her kids ...
All the events before, the suit, the motorcycle, stop her from reporting him to the police.

This is my point of view. Now, I agree, if you want to make the whole event public OK, but the consequences for Sophia are serious.
First of all, it's not even clear if Aiden is really 17!

Secondly, Aiden is a high school bully with some connections to gang members who's got a powerful uncle. Nothing more. He's neither Richard Ramirez, nor Ted Bundy, nor Ed Gein, nor Jeffrey Dahmer, nor Charles Manson! So calm the fuck down! Yeah, I know that their victims also didn't know that they are serial killers. But you definitely misinterpret and overinterpret Aiden's role and the role of a bully in general!

Thirdly. What exactly would Aiden get out of it if he'd cause harm to Sophia? What would he win with that? He's also not a complete stranger to Sophia. He's just trying to see how far he can go with her. So, raping her in the forest would be pretty counterproductive plus neither Aiden nor any of his friends is a fucking rapist! Are you serious? Plus you don't even know what they're talking about before the drive!

Last but not least. You have the god damn option not to drive with him and put your son to the boarding school. If you think this is more realistic, do that! Nobody's forcing you to drive with Aiden nor to do his tasks! If you think incest is unrealistic. Don't go with it! Just play the good wife route and enjoy your realistic gameplay!
