If you are writing a good story, multiple characters need to be explored and given screentime. If you have 10 characters and we know only about the lead and nothing about the rest they will be forgetten, a proper and well rounded story gives every character something to be remembered by or for.Amber Dylan event may be Hot af, but still dont understand how its fit in the game. the game (as the title suggests) should be all about Sophia and Sophia only. Dylan's storyline should be sidetracked in a different spinoff game, or only should be happen if Sophia is present there or at least if one of the character involved (either dylan or amber) tell her what happened in the flashback. The op should change the female protagonist tag to multiple protagonist, if these keep happens
Also this is done so that the audience doesn't get bored following the same person. Too much screentime with the main lead will cause a decline in her popularity. There is a saturation point. A video i watched long time back of a reviewer as he termed this as franchise fatigue. People get tired of the same thing. Even if your favourite food is given to you everyday you will eventually not like it. There has to be a break.
Similiarly in storytelling this gives the audience a breather from the main protagonist and also an opportunity to flesh out other characters. All series or shows, books, basically any form of long and well written stories do that.
