In my opinion, the complaints I believe come from it taking a long time for anything to happen, and now suddenly the progression is too fast, like a movie where they need to finish the story quickly and everything happens in the last half hour. It feels a bit forced.

Take for an example Being a Dik...that game has sex scene in it's part 1 itself but the story and scene still goes along. I don't know if I understood you correctly, but I'm not saying that just because there is sex that it's the end of the game, what I'm saying is that the progression of the story feels very forced lately, for me, the whole problem is in the character development. It doesn't matter if the progress is slower or faster, now the development of the characters seems poorly constructed to me.
