But the issue is that the villains as they are are so cartoonish I could never take them seriously. Every time they showed up it felt like it was wrenched in to the ACTUAL story of the game, which sure as fuck isn't about Peter. Same thing to a lesser degree with Ana. Dick... he's even more laughable. Tonally it doesn't work. Peter never really seems dangerous, ever, mainly because he doesn't seem real. Even in the scene that opens Ep 6 he's just a cartoon. Assuming that HE'S the one who set the fire... it just doesn't work for me because HE'S not that important. He exists as a plot device to show why Melissa is broken, and a poorly executed one at that.I didnt say that, its just a butterfly effect. For Melissa, you messed with a fucking drug dealer who has a loaded gun 24/7 by his side, she even stole his money and some kind of important key ( probably related to drug or weapons cabine sth like that ), in short, a very dangerous criminal. He has a clear motive. You also cannot overlook Ana or Dick, they also have their motives.
Anw I dont think its too much like what you said, or maybe you are underestimating how bad people can be.
I agree.I still think Liam is the linch pin to the whole story. He makes me laugh so much. Still hoping there is a happy ending for someone.
That will happen when a game does something really good, or really bad. Even more so when there is disagreement as to whether what it did was good or bad.Take notice that this episode has generated 2 pages on this forum so far and some long ones at that.
Agree with everything here. But the issue is that the villains as they are are so cartoonish I could never take them seriously. When I say that the burning house comes out of nowhere it does.
Hell the main characters don't even take him seriously. Call the cops, say hey this ex-con broke into our house and tried to rape me! At the very least. But nope... let's go happy camping instead. Which is fine, I much prefer the actual good part of the game which is the character interactions and stuff like that. But the situation isn't treated with gravity by the characters, so why should it be treated like that by the player?
And even IF you say the groundwork was well layed out for Peter, then you still have the scene itself coming out of nowhere. You need to set up why the girls are there, you need to set up why they are unconscious and didn't apparently even make an attempt at escape (They were on the second floor, you pretty much jump and take your chances in that situation) and all of that. He took a shortcut around all of that in order to make the final choice. That's another reason it feels cheap.
Thats subjective, i cannot say i agree with you here. But the issue is that the villains as they are are so cartoonish I could never take them seriously. So true. I'm loving the back and forth. That will happen when a game does something really good, or really bad. Even more so when there is disagreement as to whether what it did was good or bad.
