Well, I had to re-review this after this update.
Re-review written Jan 24, 2018 for version 1.3.3
Current rating 4/5 stars
There is nothing better in my book then when I can revisit a game I gave a bad review and be surprised at how much it has come along and how much better it has gotten. Adam and Gaia 1.3.3 allowed me this chance.
Almost all of my major concerns with my previous review (which is below this one) have been addressed. While 'grinding' for wood / stone is still an issue it's far less terrible. Almost bearable with the inclusion of more monster girls that will 'farm' for you. You just have to do some research and figure out what to do. It's still a bit brutal, especially at the start, and I started a few playthroughs and found the best thing to do is literally spend 2 or 3 years building up 1500+ wood and 1000+ stone before you ever set out looking for any adventure. This is easily 2-300 clicks that you'll want to do before you start to play the game, which just feels pretty boring. I again suggest raising the amount of stone and lumber gathered 'nearby camp'.
There's still a bit of grinding, until you level up, trying to learn the personality, quirks, etc for your daughters can take a while, sometimes several days depending on RNG Further as the game progresses and your harem builds, it becomes impossible to manage your time to the point where you can get everything done in a week you'd like to get done. Which is fine, it's a game, but it's also frustrating as well.
I'm also not a fan of the 'venus' update as I feel like it's a very niche fetish that may apply to some players, but is a bit out of place on the whole. I would rather have seen a plus sized / chubby porn star instead of the truly monstrous sized freakishly fat character that just doesn't fit with any other aspect of the game. Further compounding that is the fact that this is literally the only character who is monstrously morbidly obese, so even if it were a player's fetish, they wouldn't have any other content save venus. Thankfully the game can be played without the Venus update (and I would recommend doing so)
I'd like to suggest as well that energy per day go up by at least one point for every level that the MC gains, if not two. As you need more and more time the longer you get into the game.
Finally as a minor criticism, I think the 'crystal heal' mechanic doesn't quite work. Most of the time using it just means that you lose life, except in the fights where it works against a weak opponent and you can just heal back up to full. I'd personally rather see crystal heal work as a once a week, one shot ability to fully restore your character to full health. That would make it a lot more tactical. In addition if we're talking about healing, maybe some way to restore your hp? Maybe eating food at camp?
Now, I've nitpicked the 1.3.3 version a lot. But that being said, I love what this game has become. The lore is deep, and while sometimes a bit long, is really great to read. Most of the movies and images are fantastic, and only start to feel repetitive after a few hours play. I have to bring my review of this game from a 1.5 / 5 stars all the way up to a 4/5.
I think this game is well worth checking out, a lot of fun, and there could be a lot of expand-ability in the future. Kodos.
