I mean. If there wasn't an established pattern of abandoned or soon to be abandoned games leaving their patreons and such up long after they've bailed for the free money, I'd get where you come from....
Sometimes I do wish people could be a little bit more patient before writing something off, however, having said that I also would like to see at least some sign that things are going ok, even if its just a weekly post from Stickjump talking about little things, as communication is really important for projects like these.
Originally the 0.41 release was due on the 31st of jan (jan 26th post on patreon, with the dev build having been released on the 31st dec) its been 3 weeks since SJs last post on patreon, so hopefully we will hear some news on whats been happening soon.
also from sounds of that last post, stickjump (and possibly others) might be completely redoing the art of the game, so that could take extra time.
Stickjump, if you read this, please just drop a few messages now and then to let us know how things are going.
But like you noted -- no updates. no status postings. Just radio silence. Same behavior as many other abandoned games. Not even art asset teasers or updates about that. Nothing.
There are many other options than radio silence the dev could take.
He is choosing this. So thus, people who pay attention and know about this behavior of devs abandoning games and use it as free money for no work will end up calling out the fact there is no update. Missed timelines. No art assets, nothing.
It isn't "Lack of patience" -- It is calling out the fact that people may be getting scammed due to a pattern of behavior exhibited by many many abandoned projects.
