By that logic no one can criticize anything. Take a film as example,if the movie is bad (by your logic) viewers can't criticize because we don't know how to direct films. No one was aginst him for delaying updates or anything. It was because YNI abandoned Alvein

I think you misunderstood me. You can and should criticize a game, whether it's because the plot is bad, because the graphics are low quality, or because the gameplay is bad, but not because it's "slow to update." That's what's stupid.

Now, saying that NO ONE opposed the delay of updates is not true, and many did and do so not only in this game but in others.

Finally, if in this case the game can't continue (because the developer doesn't want to or can't), isn't it better to simply say so instead of continuing silently?

In the end, they'll still attack it, but that's the reality.

I think the main issue almost everyon has is the fact that for ove a yer the dev vent completely silent but still kept donations open and got money (to then reappear and say they were going to abandon the game, with zero explanation or even aknowledgement... no apology either).

Good point... but I have a question, are Patreons obligated to continue supporting a person or do they have the freedom to stop supporting someone and then, the following month for example, do it again?

There's always a risk when you've put trust and money into the creators, that they'll finish whatever they advertised.
It's the same with Kickstarter. I can think of a few that handled this way worse.

It's not really the creators' fault that Patreon cornered the market to a degree where going to its alternatives just won't get you enough money for your project to pay for itself, while also having nonsensical rules they enforce opaquely and arbitrarily. These people do need to make a living.

yeah that's the one I'm talking about, the Dev, Yni, can transfer their work there instead of scrapping all of this work, and start over due to Patreon rules. As far as I understand, that's the reason behind this game being abandoned.

We’re not abandoning Alvein or throwing everything in the trash. It’s more like one project evolving into something else. Same creators, same heart behind it.

So for clarification, Alvein in is current form won't be receiving any more updates (effectively, "shelved") and that all time and energy will be focused on this new project? If so, that's sad to hear but I eagerly look forward to it. I just hope it hits all the saucy stuff your first project tried to do!
