If people would stop white knighting developers who don't communicate, we wouldn't have this problem. I have active subscriptions with quite a few developers currently and oodles of cancelled ones usually due to slow update speed or poor communication. I'm genuinely sorry for the solo devs who have a life event that happens where they can't/aren't going to update their game in the foreseeable future. But, say so, then stop/pause your billing. It's not hindsight, people knew this game wasn't abandoned. It was basically a formality thing here on f95zone.
There are actually quite a few games which update with so much time between the updates that they have gotten the abandoned tag several times, despite people knowing they weren't abandoned.
Usually either a quick search or reading a few pages of the thread will tell you the game is still being worked on, just slow.
The annoyed reaction from some is because this is a constant conversation happening here, someone claiming abandonment or worrying whether the game is abandoned, others chiming in and then like here several pages of people trying to explain the situation.
When really all it takes is a short thread search and this would all be unnecessary. It's a frustrating experience.
Regardless if you consider your developing a job or a hobby, you're getting money (sometimes significant amounts) from people to work on that game. If you take 9+ months to release an update that adds all of 15 minutes of game play, you're just taking advantage of your supporters. If you leave a car on the side of the road for 6 months, it's going to be considered abandoned and towed.
