if i would be the dev of apocalust, i would delay as well, because i have to fap all the time.
don't blame him for that, it's natural.

Game pls when :C
Hello Patrons!
Here to give a quick update since I am taking forever.
The game is taking a bit longer than I thought, so I am going to put the main story/game trailer up in a bit over a week and the 0.1 release will be after that later in the month.
I am not even going to try to give a direct date for it because I already borked 3 now so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just wanted to give a quick update so I'm not silent for ages on end again.
Anyhow, game is coming soon and my next post will be with the Apocalust main game trailer.
Thanks a million for the support and I will talk to you again soon.

One thing is for certain, this game won't be completed in the next 3 years. It will either be abandoned or at version 0.4

I know he wanted to go for a fully animated game with the old video material he posted (if it wasn't bullshot) but honesly I'd take the stills-with-animated-sex-scenes any day if it makes development easier. Not stressing the game release, there's other shit to do but I understand people's frustrations with broken promises

Still wanna see these characters knocked up though.

Entertaining thread. Beautiful renders, though... what a shame.

Skimmed only parts of it, so apologies if this was already explained, but is the dev a professional animator? Because why else would he fixate so much on animations, when the vast majority of people were more than happy with pre-rendered stills?

I think you're overreacting. Not forget that he is making 1080p/30fps quality animations and writing an original scenario. He has a project and he is making a planning about release. He want to make two or three part ahead of the current release. You must not critize what you cant properly doing either. Give him a chance, we will see his first part then decide what will gonna do.

I have no quarrel with their work ethic. What annoys me and something I can no longer defend are all these damn false starts and inaccuracies with estimations. They keeps pouring and pouring into the 0.1 build that while we are going to get an incredible polished and amazing build it will have already been sullied by all this BS. I would rather have a "I don't know when this game will come out so if you are planning on supporting at the time of the game release do not do so now." At least that way no trolls can accuse psychodelusional of milking since they are being upfront with the first version of the game being shrouded with mystery. I'm sure a healthy amount of people would still have supported their Patreon albeit not as many. But that is still better then dragging people along under false circumstances. They might have genuinely meant it every single time they posted a new "release date" but it is one thing to mean well than to do well.

Sorry for this stupidly long post I just wanted to get this off my chest.

People are not mad that he is taking a lot of time(well a few maybe)but people are mad because he is not delivering what he promised a year ago (if you go to Dec 2019 you'll see ) tell us he will release it in 2021 or that he will take more time and release at the same time that he told that he would release. why to make false promises??

I think the thing is, people will wait...for a AAA mainstream game. This is a patreon-sponsored fap game. Even if it's a cut above the rest, repeated delays and no first release(yet) will take their toll on the potential audience, and have a broader impact on the general rep of the developer after a while.
At some point as a dev you just release a buggy first release rather than keep your audience waiting for months longer.

If it's as extensive as he says it should be in excess of a gig.
Man, I hope not. I play on a potato so part of the reason I like visual novels is they don't take up as much space or require as good of a computer brain as mainstream games. I don't want a visual novel with every scene animated. I quite enjoy still images for most scenes and then animations for sexy time. It's a formula that works. It makes the animations that much more intriguing when they're reserved for lewd scenes. That said, if he going the City of Broken Dreamers route, then I can accept that. Philly sprinkles in some non-lewd animations at just the right moments and doesn't go too far with it.

I think here the complaint is about the lack of content. After 18 months of posting the project to his patreon page. I believe he started and completed his first game in 18 months. Not perfect, but he didn't leave people--patrons and non-patrons alike, hyped up and waiting 18 months.
Do you know how much time did it take him to create the models and enviroments and all that shebang, before releasing the first version of his 1st game on patreon? Or did you just assumed that it materialized from nothing the moment he created his patreon account? Shit takes time, just imagine how many developers gave up half-way through before finishing their first demo, we missed out on some really awesome games im sure.
His current patreons are just trying to make sure that this won't happen to psycho.

The funny thing is that we don't see any patreons complaining, at all!
And the only people complaining are the ones who wouldn't even support a dev they like.

you're wrong, not everybody wants to give their complainings more weight, just because they were patron.
of course some people are like as you described and some "critics" are just hate, because the only way to nut is with those games. but it's like you would say, only patrons have the right to leave some critics. that's not true, because everybody can, especially here.

I never said that.
All i'm saying is that it's funny because in most cases, the people who are attacking the dev for mistreating his patreons, they never supported anybody, not even the devs they actually like :D
It's like whenever somebody writes "the (insertgroupname) community is outraged!!!", they actually do not belong to that community and have no idea if that's true, they just assume so because thats what they would feel if they were a part of it :D
