I mean let us not for get the pandering gay and safe space around the game. From what I went and saw the official forums on the Battle.net moderated by an actual employee that works at Blizz has an LGBT megathread where 12 to 20 something year olds fantasized about shipping and whatever character likes plowing the same gender. It's a useless thread even more useless than "X IS OVERPOWERED!!" threads that pop up because some asshole had a terrible couple of matches and feels they need to tell the world about it. Blizzard is just another company people treat like darlings but just like Epic they know how ot play with the minds of the less critical thinking in order to garner as much money as possible. They play with the "kind of smart but not really" type of person as mouthbreathers will buy anything so fucking with them is boring but Blizzard knows this. Remember the scandal crap with that fake girl who climbed through the ranks quickly and people got suspicious and it called out the clear descepancy on how Blizzard loves inclusion over efficiency as this fake person needed very little credientials to slide into posistions that others worked for years to and never achieved (This fake gamer girl to my knowledge almost if did get a spot on a well known esports team before it was outed that it was an experiment with a guy and a girl involved).
What Blizz did is throw a curveball and try to convince and distract people by saying their blandest character had a gay relationship in HOPES of mouthbreathers getting up and arms and playing right into the hands of their hardcore defenders who either don't even play the game but sure are there with their trumpets to thank Blizz for including another gay character.
But to what we were actually talking about (It's so much fun shit talk things which is why I do it so often with my friends XD) you saw this kind of thing with people who play the game. Waifufags is the derogatory term for people who probably have little experience or even care for the actual product but brought up because they love the fine 25 year old girl with the thick british accent or the no personality blue sniper chick that fits every mark of their femdom fetish or the thick little chinese lady they were convinced is "fat" by some random asshole on a forum.
