I want to turn this into a copypasta. It's the most accurate and succinct description of VN development I think I've ever read. Kudos.I have no idea if you have ever been involved in a Creative endeavor such as this. It doesn't look like it, but, I may be wrong in my assessment.
The fact that it is a business, matters very little, when at it's core it is a Creative process. Not one made by a large team, where personal issues may be diluted and dissipated, but, a small team, maybe even a one-man team. In these scenarios, not being at the best place mentally, means that, however professional one wants to be, there isn't really anything to give.
This is why the Patronage model exists and not a straight sales model. Patronage implies leeway for situations like these. While a straight sales one doesn't. Right now, there's an Hybrid model of development, where the lengthy and laborious part of the process is sustained by Patronage and afterwards the sale model can take charge.
If an author hits a block of any type, is it even smart to put pressure on them by demanding production? Will this bring forth any type of quality content, or just some low grade filler to appease the demands?
This AVN is one of the best, I don't mind waiting and getting quality.
