In a game, it's fine. IRL incest ends up leading to extra chromosomes.
Eh. Single generation genetics issues are overblown for cousin or less related. The risk for first cousins is about the same as for a 40-year-old woman in general. It's elevated, but it's like 4-5% chance instead of 3-4% chance for unrelated parents.

Sibling or parent/child is more problematic, but it's mainly due to an elevated risk of very rare recessive gene problems than wild mutations or something.

I think that successive generations, especially since the tech explosion of home computers and the internet in general, have gotten so inured with connectedness that they don't realize just how commonplace it was to happen, even within the last century. I'm over 50 now, and I remember seeing an interview when I was in early 30s range. The couple were from an Italian village (near mountains? I dunno, it was something remote) and they were brother and sister. It didn't seem to trouble them a bit, and when they were asked why, it was simply "Well, there really wasn't anyone else around either of us liked".
The royal histories are littered with intentional inbreeding, largely due to religious influences and 'divine bloodlines'. You don't taint the ruling class with trash, etc.

It's far easier to find somebody out there that you're not related to, but it'll still happen on occasion just due to the high preference for similar traits in a mate, whether it be physical or personality quirks, many of which wind up being inherited.

Even among royals, full siblings getting married/having sex was not exactly "commonplace", ie ordinary or the norm.
Occurred more than many think, sure. But it was still the exception, not the norm.
I also think a lot of those were half-siblings...
There may be exceptions with a few ancient cultures, but again, it was generally not the norm.

Sibling marriage, or sexual relationships, has been taboo for centuries, even as far back as ancient Rome. It is not a new or a recent development.
And there is some science behind siblings, or even non-related children, who grow up together developing a natural sexual aversion to one another...

I hadn't intended to make it sound like everybody was coupling up, but the exploration was certainly more common than modern media suggests, based on actual historical records.

Again, didn't mean to suggest it was 'the norm', but yes, there were a lot of half-sibling pairings. No doubt due to an also extreme number of unfaithful partners.

Yes, the . Just as on the flipside siblings who don't grow up together and meet later in life often have a much stronger attraction to one another. It's happened often enough with those who were split due to parental divorce/deaths or being adopted. There was one that popped up in the last decade about a Brazilian couple. They had married and even had a child for years before they found out.

Various cultures have their different lines that shouldn't be crossed. In some it's perfectly fine for aunt/uncle to pair up with neice/nephew, in others they don't care about cousins. Some take a more clan-based approach, where it doesn't even matter if you share blood with somebody in the clan, you have to pair up with somebody from outside. The most universally proscribed sexual relationships are between parents and their direct offspring.

Which, when going back to Artemis, really boils down to how one views their MC's relationship to the gynoid in question. I don't have any paternal feelings, just as I also don't feel anything resembling a pet/owner relationship with Koko. I actually find her a bit less appealing with the full flesh face, I don't know why. There was something about the non-fleshy jaw that accented her look in a way I liked. But I don't feel like there are any crossed boundaries, especially if as she develops and adapts she's the one who may try to initiate.

The weirdest part of it, to me, would be because it would feel like being hit on by a 15 year old girl rather than a grown woman. But just like the (lack of) parental feeling angle, that's a me issue, and not a fault with the game narrative in any manner. If a hot robot girl hits on you, the only precautions you need to take are to make sure she doesn't have hydraulic strength enough to rip your dick off.

That would be the hypothesis. It's definitely a good theory for why sexual avoidance is pretty widespread when people grow up together from an evolutionary perspective. Particularly when you look at it from a population and multigenerational level (repeated incest across multiple generations definitely is more problematic than single-generation instances, so an instinct to avoid that could be evolutionarily advantageous).

Anyways... We're definitely getting off track a bit here. I guess I'll tie it back to the game and say while I see where people are coming from with regards to feeling weird about Artemis as a LI, particularly if you see more of a parent/child relationship with her, I don't think it'll be an issue for me once she matures a bit more since I don't really see it that way.

It WAS common in the royals - after happening enough you get someone like Charles II (and remember painters were meant to make them look better than in reality):
