I think that successive generations, especially since the tech explosion of home computers and the internet in general, have gotten so inured with connectedness that they don't realize just how commonplace it was to happen, even within the last century. I'm over 50 now, and I remember seeing an interview when I was in early 30s range. The couple were from an Italian village (near mountains? I dunno, it was something remote) and they were brother and sister. It didn't seem to trouble them a bit, and when they were asked why, it was simply "Well, there really wasn't anyone else around either of us liked".
The royal histories are littered with intentional inbreeding, largely due to religious influences and 'divine bloodlines'. You don't taint the ruling class with trash, etc.

It's far easier to find somebody out there that you're not related to, but it'll still happen on occasion just due to the high preference for similar traits in a mate, whether it be physical or personality quirks, many of which wind up being inherited.
Even among royals, full siblings getting married/having sex was not exactly "commonplace", ie ordinary or the norm.
Occurred more than many think, sure. But it was still the exception, not the norm.
I also think a lot of those were half-siblings...
There may be exceptions with a few ancient cultures, but again, it was generally not the norm.

Sibling marriage, or sexual relationships, has been taboo for centuries, even as far back as ancient Rome. It is not a new or a recent development.
And there is some science behind siblings, or even non-related children, who grow up together developing a natural sexual aversion to one another...

I hadn't intended to make it sound like everybody was coupling up, but the exploration was certainly more common than modern media suggests, based on actual historical records.

Again, didn't mean to suggest it was 'the norm', but yes, there were a lot of half-sibling pairings. No doubt due to an also extreme number of unfaithful partners.

Yes, the . Just as on the flipside siblings who don't grow up together and meet later in life often have a much stronger attraction to one another. It's happened often enough with those who were split due to parental divorce/deaths or being adopted. There was one that popped up in the last decade about a Brazilian couple. They had married and even had a child for years before they found out.

Various cultures have their different lines that shouldn't be crossed. In some it's perfectly fine for aunt/uncle to pair up with neice/nephew, in others they don't care about cousins. Some take a more clan-based approach, where it doesn't even matter if you share blood with somebody in the clan, you have to pair up with somebody from outside. The most universally proscribed sexual relationships are between parents and their direct offspring.

Which, when going back to Artemis, really boils down to how one views their MC's relationship to the gynoid in question. I don't have any paternal feelings, just as I also don't feel anything resembling a pet/owner relationship with Koko. I actually find her a bit less appealing with the full flesh face, I don't know why. There was something about the non-fleshy jaw that accented her look in a way I liked. But I don't feel like there are any crossed boundaries, especially if as she develops and adapts she's the one who may try to initiate.

The weirdest part of it, to me, would be because it would feel like being hit on by a 15 year old girl rather than a grown woman. But just like the (lack of) parental feeling angle, that's a me issue, and not a fault with the game narrative in any manner. If a hot robot girl hits on you, the only precautions you need to take are to make sure she doesn't have hydraulic strength enough to rip your dick off.

That would be the hypothesis. It's definitely a good theory for why sexual avoidance is pretty widespread when people grow up together from an evolutionary perspective. Particularly when you look at it from a population and multigenerational level (repeated incest across multiple generations definitely is more problematic than single-generation instances, so an instinct to avoid that could be evolutionarily advantageous).

Anyways... We're definitely getting off track a bit here. I guess I'll tie it back to the game and say while I see where people are coming from with regards to feeling weird about Artemis as a LI, particularly if you see more of a parent/child relationship with her, I don't think it'll be an issue for me once she matures a bit more since I don't really see it that way.

It WAS common in the royals - after happening enough you get someone like Charles II (and remember painters were meant to make them look better than in reality):

probably, although cousins was probably more common at least in the medieval europe.
with all the political marriage's over the centuries almost all the royal families have blood relations
Though some, like France and Russia, no longer HAVE royal families. The Russian one was eliminated for good in 1918.

his development cycle always takes 1 year and 6 months?
o_O1 year and 6 months?????
Not sure how you got that from that quote.......:ROFLMAO:
Even chapter 6 didn't take 1 year and six months lol!
And there was a reason for that chapter taking just over a year.
And no....I'm not gonna get in that again....you can search the
forum for that lol!

When has it taken that long?

The last one took longer than usual because of reasons.

We already told you chapter 6 took over a year and if you wanted to
know why use the search in the forums.

But so you understand.....the first book was released on steam on
Apr 28, 2023. Then chapter 5 came out Oct. 30 2023.
But whatever lol!

Happy Monday!
Short break was nice. Still hectic trying to get my place ready, but was great to spend time with family. In between I worked on some code and realized a small hitch in my goal to split the books. Chapters wise, no big deal. But things like the SDCards, wallpapers, music, sfx, etc. These items get used all across the board, so I'll be making some tweaks and re-organizing how I package things. This does mean for those of you who mod, will most certainly break things. And a reminder that I don't care if you mod, just keep in mind when something breaks due to modding, that's the risk you take. When I work on code and do things like re-organizing, that's just me working autonomously. Another reminder of why I'm doing this, it's to better organize the releases. If I don't start splitting the books, downloading all 7 chapters on release day will be about 20+GB. And use I do use compression methods like WEBP and WEBM, tuning it so it's a balance of quality and size. Splitting the books will reduce that size. It will also leave Book 1 code untouched. Meaning something like a change in future chapters won't affect previous books. If something from say book 2 breaks, your book 1 saves should not be broken and thus saving you from having to completely start over. So, it's more than one reason that I'm splitting the books into separate executables. No save transfers needed or anything like that. As said before loading Book 1 saves while on Book 2 will just prompt you to run Book 1 exe to load that save and vice versa. Also, should you wish to combine the exe's...in theory that should work. This will be something I'll confirm once I've got it dialed in.
Back to the grind! Have yourselves a great week and stay warm!

Obviously we can't combine executable code, but I like the idea behind it, where we could just throw new chapter stuff into the same folder and treat it as one big game instead of separate entities. I hope he figures out how to make that work, so my Artemis folder could just be one big folder with 50GB of shit when he's finished instead of requiring separate installations.

separating VN's into multiple .exe's/folders is something dev's do to cater to the fans, to keep download sizes small, and possibly saving storage space by only needing later instalments.

it would be easier to keep everything in one instalment ,the devs actually have to work on the save transfer code, test it yada yada.
