Well, the game is not intended to be played by changing variable values by console. I have absolutely no clue which state you put the game in. So I don't even try to answer posts complaining that their console commands don't work...I'm having issues with using the console, staff support is dropping all the way from the thousands to the negatives every time I try to pass no dress code or sexy school uniform. The policy is also being reset to not unlocked so that the highest policy I have is normal uniform. Also taking a severe hit to morale, -89 points. dreamchaser Tagging you in case this actually is a bug instead of me being stupid.
I am not saying I won't continue to balance reputation, since my current plan is that 0.4 will be mostly about balancing and polishing the existing content and game loop. There is a major balance issue with the reputation. The last patch helped a little with the loss at the end of the year; however, the real problem is weekly loss. It isn't really noticeable until you have all stats maxed. In my game, all are at 100 and each week, I would loose about .5-.7 reputation on average. during the week I would regain [any lost stats, usually a bit of morale] back to 100s but I wouldn't be able to regain the amount of lost reputation. I was able to offset the loss somewhat buy upgrading buildings, but eventually bought them all. I am now sitting at 55.5 reputation with all upgrades and all stats maxed in mid August of year 5. I have spent about 2 years trying to get reputation back to over 60 or at least keep it above 50. (I only played about 8 months on the current version.) I was at about 52.5 before the students changed out in July, so that part of the reputation loss was much improved over the previous version.
Perhaps we need a small weekly reputation gain, or much less loss when we have stats so high?
Your focus is all wrong honestly. There's nowhere near enough content right now and attention should be on adding more of that in a sandbox type environment then once you're at a comfortable level of content balancing things to be more linear. Some policies only result in about 2 scenes which is laughable.Well, the game is not intended to be played by changing variable values by console. If your severe morale loss is triggered at the end of the week, I do have one general tip for you: In Preferences, tick on "More Numbers".
This gives you a new entry "Stat Changes" in the main menu. This will always show which game objects influenced which stat by how much during the last weekly effects (which happen on sunday).
Click on the "morale" stat to list the details for it, and try to figure out where your drop comes from. In the normal game, getting a drop of -89 is impossible. With console commands, who knows...
To all: The game has an intended way of cheating, which is the debug menu. Turn that on by setting "config.developer = True" in game_data.rpy. That is way safer and easier then trying console commands, because you have a gui, and because it changes the correct variables to still sane values. And yes, those values will stick. I regularly use it while testing.

But I also don't think there is a major balance issue with reputation either. The point is, if you implement all the raunchy policies at once, you present a pretty dismal picture to the outside world, and your reputation suffers.
I am going to presume you have all policies cranked up to max. Try taking you teacher leeway back to "Spankings", and your school uniform back to "No Dresscode", and see what your weekly reputation change looks like then.
Take a look at the tooltip for Reputation: In the upper right corner, it displays your static reputation value. That's the part of the reputation not dynamically calculated from student stats. Try to set your policies so it does not go down from sunday to monday.
And by the way: You do get a small weekly increase to that static reputation value for good student stats. However, that maxes out at 0.25 per week if all your stats are maxed.
So right now you have to pick and choose what to max out and what to dial back. Or live with the reputation loss and the problems that brings.
My current plan to make it possible to play with all policies maxed out, is to give high level building upgrades a reputation boost. But no guarantees, and that will only come in 0.4 as I want to properly balance that out.
I am sorry, but that is simply not for you to decide. I add to the game what I get enjoyment from. If you don't like that, then don't play it.Your focus is all wrong honestly. If you're stuck for where to get content from, if the mods are able to work with the game make them a part of the actual game.
Part of what I have noted down for 0.4 is that I want to keep more events from just disappearing with higher stats, and instead give them raunchier alternative text. So yep, good observation! I do try to keep all changing scenarios around in their end state instead of just dropping them.I'm kind of sad that some content stops showing once you get certain milestones.
I feel like I had a few scenarios that changed over time get skipped on having an ending.
Decent game though. RNG porn with a slight bit of control over the setting kept me interested for a while. The repetition of seeing the same pics too often is ultimately what made me stop, but that was after getting literally everything.
I have added detailed installation instructions to the download postWas looking forward to playing this but game keeps not responding, have tried another copy to see if it was corrupted during the download but guessing it's just the game, other Ren'Py's work, any fix would be helpful to try.
Cool! I am very much looking forward to the first mod for AAR, whatever you do. Feel free to ask me any questions! Either here, or over at henthighschool.com.I'm currently working on a mod that takes out the unnecessarily long grind and adds over 20 new images and events! Stay tuned!
There should be a file "log.txt" in the same folder where AshfordAcademyRedux.exe is. Can you attach that file here? Maybe something will suggest itself...Was basically after downloading and extracting the game, when you run the program the starting logo pops up then when it disappears the program goes into (not responding), not able to find the debug log as to why it does that though.
That number is static 10.0 at the start of a new game and seems to head up to about static 32.xx (so far). Is that good or bad? What does it mean?Take a look at the tooltip for Reputation: In the upper right corner, it displays your static reputation value. Good for you dude. It's just not much of a revival with a tenth of the content and 10x the grind. I'm assuming you want people to play it?I am sorry, but that is simply not for you to decide. I add to the game what I get enjoyment from. If you don't like that, then don't play it.
And I get the most enjoyment from improving the game engine, having a well balanced game, and writing new content which I enjoy myself.
In the spirit of the original Ashford Academy game, I have kept all old mods compatible, have written every new game system to be extremely accessible to mods, and have extensively documented how to write mods.
Mods should be the primary way additional content gets added to the game.
So long as nobody steps forward to do so, you'll just have to live with the amount of content in the base game, what I slowly write myself to add to it, and what the old mods for Ashford Academy Classic offer. I already offer to fix any bugs you get using the old mods with AAR. I know of none. Maybe at some point I'll write more extensive documentation of how to add the old mods to the game or add them to my own file store. None of that is stuff which only I am capable of doing.

And yeah, at some point running out of content isn't something I can stop, it can only ever be pushed farther back...
