hmm, I didn’t pick up on that on my playthrough. There are some flashbacks in the story, so that might explain your confusion but everything main story related is happening in real time I believe.

At the beginning, there was a scene with Byron and Octavia at a cafeteria. He mentioned he had once watched a documentary about restaurants and found out that waitresses relied mostly on tips to make a living. He commented that he'd thought it'd be rough relying on the good nature of other people and that he'd want to do his part.
I don't know why this particular moment got into my head... That time I just recalled I'd watched a similar documentary or something and since I happened on this topic again (in a porn game
), I decided it was a funny sign I should take to my heart. It's weird, I know. Don't get me wrong, I did tip waiters somewhat before but after this game it's has become my rule.

My one question is: Can the MC have a sexual relationship with Avalon, or is it possible with just the side characters?

No way to focus on just the side characters. Either solo route with Avalon or Avalon + Dallas/Octavia.

This is a game that the more I played it, the more I was convinced.
the first impression was positive but not overwhelming, the mood of the game is great, the progression well timed but the characters are too strange, too out of the ordinary, but for a compelta immersion in the story (in the end the most normal characters are the mother of Avalon and his companion ...).
but replaying it in the different plots I appreciated the depth of the characters (which remain deeply weird but pleasant) and their relationships.
my favourite runs were the "what if" ones with Leah, especially lewd.
instead the one that left me cold is the polyamorous one with Octavia, too abrupt the passage from wanting to help Avalon overcome the trauma to throw her into the arms of a stranger (at least Dallas is her best friend) and then basically it's right that Octavia lives her love story with Penny.
