People wanted a release, they got a release. Was it up to the standard I would like? No, hence why it is an "alpha" release. Meaning of "alpha release": A release that is working but missing functionality and is likely to contain a number of bugs. The purpose is to allow users to test and pass on feedback.

So, if you see an "alpha" release and you rush to play it expecting a great experience, you're not understanding the terminology being used. It's already served it's purpose in getting me the feedback I wanted and things have been tidied up. I tried to make that abundantly clear in the posting. I also disabled the battle system to ensure people didn't waste much time getting to the very limited new content. There are only 3 new CGs, an introduction to quest lines, some facesets, and a slew of minor dialogue events. It wasn't even close to being what I'd consider a major update, hence no pledges were run.
Yummy either you don't understand their problem, or you play dumb. People are upset that you broke multiple promises, not that your latest update/reupload has little content.
If we go back to september, where you proudly announced the soft reboot of your project, how many promises did you break? If I recall correctly you promised the first larger portion of chapter 1 for september, that you kept pushing back few times and it's still not ready.
Personally I don't give a flying shit about your game, there are much better and harder worker patreons than you. Patreons that started later than you are able to show constant progress (hreinngames, dystopianproject, sirensdomain, and more). I'm sure you don't even work on the game, other than few hours a week.
I know you have a family with two small children and unless you are wealthy and/or your wife makes alot of money, this will hurt your personal life. At this point you are basically unemployed, with 0 income. Why don't you step up and start getting shit done? You will rant about on how much stress you have but you know urself that's a lie. The best advice I can give you is to restart the project with someone putting everything into RPG Maker. You should stick to writing/some of the art, find someone else to draw the scenes.
Last time I criticized you because of you wanting to learn parallaxing maps. You basically want to be a Jack of all trades, this is so wrong. Focus on what you are good at (writing) outsource everything else!

There are only 3 new CGs
All things considered it's not that bad. We get 1 new CG per year at the rate things are going, well... enough with the sarcasm... YT READ this constructive criticism, after this enormous wait, people will be more than extremely happy if you manage to release at the bare least 1 decent new erotic CG of some sort per month.

Off the top off my head, Ariadne does what you're asking. I doubt this game will ever get that far along, in the near future atleast.

Thanks for the comment. I do read criticisms, and many are exactly right.

Personally I don't give a flying shit about your game, there are much better and harder worker patreons than you. Patreons that started later than you are able to show constant progress (hreinngames, dystopianproject, sirensdomain, and more). I'm sure you don't even work on the game, other than few hours a week.
Show me the patreons that put out more content for ONE pledge. You say they work so much harder? That may be the case, but they are charging you every month. THEY ARE OBLIGATED TO PUT IN TIME EVERY MONTH. Show me money to work ratio. I've put out everything you see PLUS a complete translation (with CG improvements and additions mind you) for ONE pledge. Hreinn? They've got a complete game, they also have run monthly pledges for years. Dystopian? Great game, love it. Again, over a year of pledges. Plus, for the first year and a half I specifically told you I was only working a few hours a week. I had a good job that I was reluctant to leave.

People say I fall back on the money defense, but damn it, I purposely leave a shitload of money on the table so I can slack off if I want. Your "work harder" comment is under the guise that a monthly Patreons are comparable in terms of what is expected, it shouldn't be. Take a $10 pledge in theirs verse mine, You'd have paid Hreinn $360 in 3 years and you'd have gotten Noxian Nights and a 2 hour demo KoD. In the same timeframe, you'd have paid me $10 in 3 years and gotten a Hunter's Quest translation and a 1 hour demo of Aylia's Story. While I concur that I need to find a way to stop promising and failing to deliver, I've put plenty of time into both projects and have never asked much in return.

Last time I criticized you because of you wanting to learn parallaxing maps. You basically want to be a Jack of all trades, this is so wrong. Focus on what you are good at (writing) outsource everything else!
I don't even understand this criticism. The FIRST demo of Aylia's Story had parallax mapping. I'd learned parallax mapping before I even released the demo. Who said they wanted to learn it? I was talking about putting out a tutorial to teach what I'd learned, not try to learn it myself. Your criticism was/is not even based on reality.

Finally, if you don't give a flying shit about the game, why the flying fuck are you commenting on it?

Okay so I decided to give my own 2 cents on the subject.

First off I basically follow you and your game since week 1 or sth like that on ULMF, that's why I can completely understand the people that are frustrated with how things went down (because yeah, I felt like that too).

But I also think that the points you make are perfectly logical and the fact that you just don't take any money HAS to be acknowledged.

That being said the number one critic point I have read over and over again, is the valid point of transparency around the whole project, because to be honest with you, at no point in time of this whole journey one could be certain what the actual progress of the game was.

And I think one very good solution for that subject could be a website I saw the lok: rebirth guys use to keep their audience up to date, it's called trello and is (atleast imo) the perfect way to organize every step of development and at the same time visualize what exactly you are working on atm. for the people interested in it.

For once everyone would have a good feel for how much of the game is actually done by now and how much time it will take on average for the next version to see the light of day.

Maybe you'll consider this, maybe not, as I said that's just my 2 cents ;).

He made it very clear how he's going to work, and he made sure that his pledgers can get their money back anytime they wanted if they believe his major update isn't major enough. That's good enough for me, personally.

That being said, 3 years man. I don't even care for Aylia; just gimme more of that goblin already. XD

Yeah, I hear you.

To make one thing clear what I wrote doesn't necessarily reflect how I personally feel about the project.
To be honest with you I don't even check on the game often myself (as i said been there since the beginning and after some amount of time you just move on to other stuff you know).

But I hate to see that much hate on a western developer that is obviously not trying to scam people like some other folks do, and that is the best solution I can think of to calm most of the people down.

People wanted a release, they got a release. Was it up to the standard I would like? No, hence why it is an "alpha" release.
No no no no, don't even try this. Don't you dare. It's been three years of YOU making promises about chapter 1. Last month it was "getting out something no matter what". Last year it was "releasing ch.1 or at least what I did until then", and so on. Trying to shit on all the people who are following you and asking for something to play isn't really professional. This "release" of a 5 minutes gameplay it was done by YOU to show that something is going on, after 3 years. This has no excuse. It's the first fucking thing we see after the gold-reworked-now-for-sure-edition of the demo and if people say that it sucks to see only this after 3 years, that's it. 'cause it's true. Maybe there is more to come, but right now this is the only, new, solid, PLAYABLE thing we have seen. And maybe we'll have to wait another 3 years to see the next 5 minutes, y'know?
People want what you promised for years. A game.

@MasterQ - Not sure how I'm shitting on the people supporting me. They DID want a release, and they ARE the only reason I release alphas. It was clearly labeled "alpha" and it was clearly stated in the release that it was a limited release that didn't come close to fulfilling the things I was aiming for. That said, the quality of that release is solely MY responsibility. I failed in that regard.

Maybe it will take me 3 more years for the next 5 minutes. I'd like to think it won't, but hey, maybe it will. What I can tell you won't happen is I have no plans on quitting. That would be shitting on the people supporting me.

You contradict yourself so much. It was you announcing that you would work parttime and then fulltime on the project. Don't forget all that shit tease with the turtle and the dozens of missed ETA's. So don't have the audacity to tell you don't get money so you can slack of whenever you want, stop spreading lies.
Btw I can comment on everything I want and I'm only doing this to help you. But you keep defending your behavior, so I have little hope that you would ever change for the better. If you go back two years and dig my old posts on ulmf you can see the same stuff I'm writing now: you are lazy, you have poor work ethics, you are ineffective.
You're game looks already outdated, I'm just waiting for you to quit the project and going back to a real job.

YT what reasonable person quit a supposedly good job (as you claimed) with a supposedly good salary (again as you claimed) to "develop" an unsuccessful videogame?
YT you can say whatever you want, keep making excuses but personally i dont trust your words anymore (being honest we dont know if you are really married or if you really have babys, etc there is no proofs of that only your word, but you use that as excuse when you fail a release or an objetive.), so is time to let your actions speak for you. I wish you the best YT i really do.

Edit: Get results and release a great game and i will trust you again.

@Kerlon - Thanks for ALL your help! It's been just a ray of sunshine talking with you. The motivation and good feelings I get leave me shuddering with delight. In fact, you should go share your sublime mojo with all those wonderful Patreons you speak of. It feels nigh blasphemous for your precious time to be wasted on such a lazy, degenerate soul like myself. Please, I beg of you, I know the break-ups are always the hardest, but you must go... it's your calling to deliver wonderment and passion to the worthy Patreons out there. Let me wither away into obscurity, but know that I will forever cherish the light that was Kerlon for a mere moment in my life...

@Danjuro - I wish you the best too. May you find the game you're looking for. Good luck!

Look, instead of working you keep posting on forums. You don't work on your game, you discuss your game. I don't the see successful devs I mentioned posting around as much as you do. Which is kinda funny, because they sure have more content to talk about than your 79 MB demo.
Farewell Mike :)

Stock script? That's not a stock script. Most of the scripts added are custom, and that particular custom script has been nearly rewritten. I don't use much stock anything.
I see 50-60 stock scripts from Yanfly & friends and a handful of custom ones, of which at least half of these are copy pasted hotfixes from some forum. I'm surprised you got all of these working together.

After three years I still don't know what your game is. Are you trying to "troll" people? Are you bad at common sense (= project management)? Or are you just a massive procrastinator whose lies are rapidly catching up with him because the internet doesn't forget?

Farewell! I'll miss your pep talks!

You don't know what my game is, but you're posting in the game's thread and talking about the scripts the game uses. Okay...

There are 4 hotfixes, if you could call them that. One of which was rewritten. The Yanfly and Victor engine scripts are not stock, they've been modified. The BM stuff is stock, but only because it was fixed and uploaded back to BM who then released the new version with a credit to me. The companion scripts and achievement scripts are either completely custom or nearly rewritten. So, not really sure whether you just don't know what you're talking about or whether you're trying to troll me.

As for your question, I'm a massive procrastinator who plays too many video games. Getting better, hopefully...

Sheesh well, I get all things said, still im one of the people waiting for the game to take off. I got many years of playing those games under my belt (totally a thing for my curriculum), and even when having the "top" japanese ones translated by hand they arent that far from what I have seen in Aylias Story. Things like early worldbuilding are pretty much better than most things already, and interactions with nearly everything add a lot.

Granted, those might be the things that take some time that could be spent elsewhere, but there are also different kinds of games, if you are in a randy state of mind some things just dont do it for you, if the animal takes over you are probably better off looking for "faster" things. Kinda like music, all depends on the mood.

Now, have I seen hundreds of games with a delevopment cycle like this one? No, there are a dozen or so I remember but they either got finally done or are still in limbo/probably abandoned. Have I seen hundreds of games with a premise like this one? Hell no, if you arent just looking for quick porn, but have it ripened with a world full of story, humor and likeable characters, then I can see this game being the one. Also elf tits, I dont know why that nearly always works, but it does.

Im not a fortune teller, I can only hope we get to see more of the game, but I can also see it being the next thing easily taking the charts.
