There were 2 updates in September and 1 in October. The "on hold" tag is still fine though, as progress is very slow.
Updated artwork, including new standing portraits. Entirely new RPGM version. Completely redone maps and tilesets. New events and updated dialogue. Custom scripts. New music. New icons and inventory artwork.
YOU might not want to call it an update, but that doesn't make it so. I'd point out that the notion that there has been no updates in 6-7 years is false even without the updates this year. There was chapter 1 content released in 2017. Follow along if you want, or don't. It's no skin off my back. But, there has been progress this year, including multiple updates.
It's redone artwork and assets for a game that doesn't even have an hour of playability. You haven't created anything new in 6 or 7 years now. That isn't an update. Stop redoing the same thing and take a step forward.
The only reason this thread doesn't say abandoned is because every three months you come here to talk about how an update is coming soon, like you've got an alarm set or something. It's frustrating even though it really shouldn't be at this point.
There are literally new portraits and entirely new artwork. Brand new music. Hell, I've posted multiple brand new pieces of artwork on Patreon in the past few months. I get it, YOU don't want to admit you are wrong and want to make up your own definition for what an update is. You can say the game is not progressing fast, or that you don't think it'll ever reach chapter 1. Both would be valid points, but there have been updates this year. And, there was chapter 1 content released in 2017 that was never in the game prior, including a quest line with Kira. So again, your 6-7 year comment is wrong on multiple fronts.
Also, I have never bumped this thread after any significant amount of time. Primarily, I've respond to people who are simply lying about things. I'm well aware of the many issues I've had in doing this. So many in fact, that I don't even know why people feel the need to make shit up to try and attack the project.

But, to answer your question, No, I don't understand why people are so angry. I've followed multiple Patreon projects that I was interested in for years. I've even put money towards quite a few. Some of them have been around longer than mine. I'm not angry. This project has not collected any money and I've put in thousands of hours of work. Sure, I've wasted a lot redoing shit and messing around with systems, etc. But, I'm the only one who has wasted that time and effort. Everyone else could simply check a webpage every few months and see if something got released. THAT! That is what you are saying you're so angry about. That when you chose to check a website for a few seconds to see if any progress was released, it wasn't. That an amateur dev attempted to set a deadline and missed it, and you checked a website for nothing.
There will be a release of the prologue fairly soon. I'm sure that won't constitute an "update" either, despite the huge amount of time invested into it. Then, I'll release a portion of Chapter 1 and that won't be worth 7 years of waiting, so that won't be an "update" worthwhile. It is what it is. If I could wave a magic wand, I'd simply wish that all the people who clearly dislike the project would simply move on and let the people who actually want to discuss and be positive about the project, do so. But, that's not really the Internet, is it?

I don't understand how so many people in this thread shit on YummyTiger even though they probably didn't even spend 1 cent on the project and just occasionally check whether they can pirate the new version of the game they are so interested in. Usually taking feedback from people is very important as a developer, but honestly the lack of braincells in this thread almost contradicts that. (at least from that website lol). Like guys, you can just check for 10 seconds whether there was an update and if not play one of the other 10000 games here.

It's really not that many. If you scroll back, it's primarily a small group of vocal people. There are far more people who do as you are saying, simply check every now and then and see if something gets released while adding a comment or two from time to time. Those are the people who I hope ultimately get to enjoy the game.
The fact that people are still paying for the production of this game (even during the pandemic) brings me to fucking tears. He says that he's providing updates on the game but all I'm seeing is maps, status updates that talk about cgs and events in the game without pictures (and no, I'm not talking about the non-patron posts) and "Lore Posts" Really?? Are people paying you for the production of a game or are they paying for history lessons?
The fact that people still think anyone is paying me brings me to tears. I have never collected a single pledge for Aylia's Story. My Patreon is on a pay per major update model, and I've yet to actually run a charge. Every single asset for this game has been done on my time and dollar. So no, NO ONE is paying me. This is something that is clearly specified on the Patreon and has been brought up countless times in this thread.
