I would definitely love for him to make a sequel with Messiah and Children. Sadly, I mostly agree that it's quite improbable. Also, I'm not 100% sure how good the gameplay would be without a base game (Cryo's) to spoof.

Dune, although it is a subversion, is pretty much a typical hero story and really lends itself to a game adaptation. That's not the case with its sequels. There's no suitable protagonist unless one were to make significant changes to the story. Paul's life ends in tragedy. and nobody else is really suitable either.

If I were to make a sequel to BtD, I would set it between Messiah and Children and make it about Alia's rise to power. Her taking over House Atreides, eliminating political adversaries, isolating the twins, squashing dissent, setting up a theocracy, expanding her vision and becoming the queen bitch of the universe. Lots of potential for sexual exploits, like in the source material. Her genetic memory of the Baron could be her sidekick/advisor.

Why don't games like this get taken down due to copyright? Is labeling it as a parody enough to avoid copyright issues? Nothing against the devs or anything, just very curious.

I'd say they don't blow up in popularity enough to show up on the Herbert Foundation's radar (or whoever it is that owns the franchise).

US has parody laws which includes a transformative aspect as part of the law. Porn is fairly transformative for most mainstream IP. With the game being essentially free its hard to prove a monetary loss. Then pair that the creator is outside the US it would require some international legal entanglement

hot take idea. a sequel that has paul live where he should have died, but only under very specific circumstances (like paul being the father of alia instead of leto, treating irulan decently to help her not go crazy{spice addiction or lack of possibly too} etc) would be an even better sequel. then the game could be more about how many waifus you let die while governing. possibly with some aspect of civ or simcity to it.

btw was it ever mentioned if there were any other civilizations in the dune universe? the empire pretty much controls the entire galaxy right? so any external threats of a original-ish varity could concievely be added on top of the above mentioned... or would that be better for a thrid game idea? personally i'm a big fan of the power grab-> management -> invasion by an external force story progression in most kindom building fiction. even if it is cliche and done to death. imo it's just natural progression... unless assaination or folly comes round anyways.

Agreed, though I personally would focus on the twins, lots of kinky stuff to do between ghanima, Leto, more bene gesserit, .. (ahem).

Another source of "sequels" would be to find other games from the same period which a talented gamemaker could parodize. Any suggestions ? It would have to be an adventure game with sufficiently good graphics I order to keep the same feel.
