Well folks, I sort of owe a bit of an apology for oversight of a detail in the MiniStat in S1/S2 Ep8 (yep, it's all about the details). I didn't notice at the time Pink changed the screen for Major Choice decisions where (prior to Ep8) I have the MiniStat automatically display your Major penalties to date. I've sorted it in S3.
I know it's a small detail but information matters when making decisions and you depend on me for answers. For those who don't recall the Major penalty (remember the old bar at the top that would take off segments of DIK/CHICK?) in the MiniStat, here's how it's populated below. I do it this way so the information (which is otherwise irrelevant when not making Major Choices) is out of the way and doesn't clutter up the stat info. Example:

Know that in S1/S2 this worked fine through Ep7... but in Ep8 Pink change the layout and apparently the coded name of the layout which I didn't catch until now. It's sorted going forward though, so just know it's a thing. I'm gonna grab tonight's first adult beverage and get back to it. I appreciate the patience even though other folks are bitching that this update is "small", it's not when one considers the amount of total content. It's a ton of work to do this the SanchMod way, but you know I want the best mod for my personal playthrough so you'll have the same. Regards.

The first eight episodes are nearly 20GBs.
Just episode nine and the prelude make up over a third of that file size. This party was flipping huge. I am really looking forward to playing through all the different threads. Episode one is like the top of a Christmas tree... small and to the point... now we're all the way to episode 9 and the Christmas tree is now very wide with multiple large branches connecting to smaller ones. I can't imagine the work involved in taking it apart, dissecting the scripting, and putting it all back together without breaking anything.
Also, I'm really loving reading all the complaining in the main thread that they "had no fun" organizing the party and that this update was too much thinking and too much babysitting people. I wonder when it's going to dawn on them that this is what it's like to throw a party as a host. IT'S NOT FUN LOL

I guess at the end of the day it's not only cartoon porn but it's intended as a game. So, there's going to be some amount of gaming elements. For example, SanchoMod doesn't intend to hold your hand and tell you what to do. It's a guide to let you know what may or may not happen due to your previous decisions and allow you to progress how you feel is best to suite you. Who the fuck am I to decide what is "best choice"? Utter nonsense. As an example (not too much of a spoiler I hope) there's an event with "Haunted Mansion" where, if the player has the MiniStat open, I hide it temporarily to allow the player to experience the gaming aspect mod-free as intended. Then when the event is over the MiniStat pops right back up like nothing happened (and hopefully not noticed that I did it at all). I do the same with lewds in most of my mods. The point of a mod is to enhance the experience and not to force anything imho... but yes, there's content in this update. Maybe that content doesn't suite everyone but what on Earth suites everyone anyway?
BTW, fuck party planning.
(I still have to come up with a badass cheat for it like the Mansion cheat in S2... oh boy).

I was playing it, and I did well because of my past experience with logic brainteasers, but I kept thinking, "what the hell is Sancho going to do with this?" lol... Hooooboy it looks so hard to script! I think the biggest obstacle would be that solutions will always be imperfect. You can't please everyone, so the logic is inherently fuzzy and difficult to min/max. It took me two hours of creating and deleting solutions before I realized that there was no way to please everyone. I do love how what you put out on the grid is represented in how the party favors are distributed. So neat to play around with.BTW, fuck party planning.

I was hoping in a post I did on BaDIK a couple days ago, was me just "thinking too far" about things I was picking up on ep9.
(in short, about how it looks like choice path / other on EP8 won't matter in the future, "It's all about the long game")
So this is telling me.. If I want the "complete experience" S3 onwards. I'll prolly need more than 30 playthroughs! o0

I was sitting in the bathroom (where I do my best thinking of course) and I was wondering, how hard would it be to skip the interlude? I keep an array of non-cheat save paths, and pondering going through it X times does not sound great (and I *liked* the interlude)
Haven't played the new chapter yet at all, and its been a while since I played at all,so maybe it's not an issue.

You don't even need a mod for that bud. Pink asks you at the beginning of S3 if you want to play interlude (in Ep9 update). If you don't want to you only have to answer one question and you bypass it. This, of course, is now doable, but I'm not sure I recommend it... I reckon Zoey's background is a bit pertinent to get her point of view for VN fans... but that's just mho.

You need to play it once. After that, any other files you start will ask if you want to skip it.

Impatiently read this bud, it explains things in a nutshell of a question impossible to answer honestly. I'm working 16+ hours per day, cutting things down to only preparing one massive meal per day to get this workload done. I'm doing it for free, most folks don't put this much effort into their careers receiving paychecks. Hang in there, I won't disappoint (the mod won't, the VN's content is on the developer). FWIW I'm coding the final FreeRoam now. From what I can see in the main script this is the final of Ep9, so that's where I'm at with things. Remember SanchoGallery is done, SanchoCheats are done (the promised Carolyn mod is included), the GUI updates are done (including new SanchoHotKeys), the new FreeRoam guide base coding is done (obviously), etc.
Bottom line: I'm likely close but could hit another roadblock not foreseen like I elaborated on here (that was time consuming). This is where I'm at (without speedrunning all the various paths to insure I grabbed all the menu choices yet):
The FreeRoams aren't a joke, I have to account for every single one of the tasks since each player will do different things in different orders. Just understand that this coding isn't simple... there's no fucking way another mod is complete for this VN before me... no fucking way. I know I'm a bit slower in my older age since I'm very picky about details but the amount of coding required is beyond having this done prior to this very moment... just look at this one MiniStat for only this one of four FreeRoams (and that's but one of many features of SanchoMod). That doesn't count the standard playthrough that's not in a FreeRoam environment. You get the idea... this isn't me bitching and moaning but only trying to explain in more detail to give folks a sense of "how the sausage is made".
This just ain't a "green choice is best" type of mod for sure. I'm very hopeful your patience will be rewarded by an experience that actually allows you to not even know you are using a mod... you are using a tool that allows you to customize your experience the way you want and then get on with actually playing the game. That's the goal.
I know it sounds like I'm being whiny, I'm tired and might not be expressing what I intend. I'll stop ranting and get back to work now after a Crown & Coke refill. Regards as always.

The game is interesting, the characters are interesting, one of the best here by far. what about coding? is it really good too? because I'm illiterate in coding.
Your first mod I played was Chasing Sunset (a greatly written game btw) and I thought, god damn Sancho's mod is awesome, it makes to enjoy the great game even more!
I would love to have your mod on another amazingly written game "Summer's Gone" one of my favorites.

Props for a deeper question than you might even expect. And I'm going to give you a rather fucked-up answer... I'm on the fence with this motherfucker. Yes, he's anti-mod but I understand why since he's having to spend a ton of time tracking down reported issues that have nothing to do with his code but from others fucking his shit up... so let's put that aside (I'm certainly not fucking up his code, I don't even change it unless the player explicitly decides to use SanchoCheats which always has my disclaimer). So, his coding is fucking on point... mostly. But then he throws bullshit code that's been deprecated years ago by official RenPy in ALL of his free roam coding.... all of it is using shit from RenPy circa pre v6! It's ridiculous and obscene to manage when there's so much more power in the newest RenPy code. He uses this in the phone coding as well which gives me great grief... but I've already whined about that enough in previous posts.
Is Pink a competent coder? Yes, most certainly, and he has my respect when he's actually using the power of current coding methods. He quickly loses it when diverting back to dinosaur code that's completely inefficient junk... I swear sometimes he started by copying code from OverStack or LemmaSoft, forced it to work and never looked back at actually making it his own.
So, again, I'm on the fence. Some of it is brilliant and some of it is the most rookie bullshit I've ever seen. Very good question and very difficult for me to answer with a conclusion.

A fella hitting the nail on the head... full stroke. Another fan that understands... yes, I'll listen to your requests but I code these mods for me... I'm a selfish fucker in that regard (do you really think I'd work my ass off for strangers for free?). It's the sharing that's important... and I fucking need the karma, seriously.
Really like your mods, have starting to switch most of my gameplay using your mods now.
