The bloody couch is such a small thing compared to the theories you hear around here.
With the theory that the cover of Lynette's diary is made from her skin, it's hard to be surprised.

Clearly those guys are nasty and love a bit of period sex.
Or this couch is a kind of altar, on which regularly occurs deprivations of virginity.

But jocks as a pirates of the red seas is also a good version!

Thank you very much Darkdevil66
I will never know how DPC spent hours on that and never realized he was cooking up granny ass as a "reward".

You don't want to see a character that you're emotionally invested in have sex with another man? There must be something wrong with YOU.

That's the thing though they never had sex with you never mind "another man" because they're not real. You cannot be cheated on by someone you have never fucked. Disliking a fetish is one thing but it often goes beyond that on here.

Camila and Riona's sex work would cuck a player about as much as watching Adriana Chechik get gangbanged does. All the distance and detachment that are normally there for fictional characters seems to go out the window with NTR. Like the people that believe they're with a actor they've never met or send death threats to the bad guy's actor. Marcolion is right it often comes across as outright unhealthy a lot of the time.

but look I'm not trying to convince anyone otherwise, but it remains that the most constant argument for praising BADIK's work is disdain for other similar works. that besides being a weak argument, I also find it quite counterproductive, if AVNs are such a dunghill, no matter how much BADIk emerges the stench will always be that.

if I then have to respond to your examples I find them really unremarkable and not particularly significant about the quality of writing. let's start with the fact that they are naturally very subjective, for example that the Jill cycle is coherent and well carried out is at least a controversial opinion...

American Pie, but like it many even worse comedies, have exciting moments, we are human beings, getting excited is easy enough, you just have to push the right buttons (as for example pixar movies do, even the less successful ones)

if I imagine Badik's transposition on paper I see an unreadable work, a concentration of characters who always react at the highest intensity (Mc drops out of college because he had a fight with Troy, Josy runs away from home to go to college, Sage goes to spy on her boyfriend with binoculars, Maya knows that her father has the keys to her room but is sure she will not use them without warning first, Bella stays over at MC's getting caught by all the DIks , Zoey asks MC to drop out of school a few months before it ends and again and again)

there isn't a single story arc that told really makes sense, that's not to say that there aren't funny moments (the poop and fart jokes still make me laugh) or exciting moments. there are qualities, but they aren't enough to hold Badik up as a story on foot
I want to start by thanking anyone who has any willpower to read my Saturday afternoon bullshit. I appreciate you all, especially Joshy.

I understand your argument about comparing BaDIK to other AVNs and why looking from your perspective wouldn't seem like such a good thing. It's like being one normal in a family of crazy people. Still, I feel like it should be something people can be happy about if they just want a good VN product or care about this; let's call it "industry" for lack of a better word. I always hated the Asian/anime aesthetic and I was really frustrated that all the good non-sexual visual novels were in that style. It's still kind of weird that the only western visual novel I could enjoy is a porn one.

I think my error was to send you to my past post without any additional context as to why I believe it is important to our discussion. It's the middle of the day for me and I hope that I have a few more brain cells than the previous night, so I will try to help you understand where I'm coming from. I wouldn't take characters acting on weird impulses as a flaw. It fits what DPC is going for; it fits the obvious BaDIK inspirations. But most importantly, what makes everything over-the top fit, that it is all consistent.

My biggest issues with other VNs are:
  • Characters aren't consistent with the personalities they were established with. It happens when, for example, the writer makes the mistake of making the story they want to tell shape the characters actions. Instead of characters personalities, wants, and needs influencing their actions, which in turn move the story forward,
  • The story and themes aren't consistent - I will admit, I've had it happen to me at least a few times. I understand how unserious and amateurish this type of content is, and I don't mind it most of the time. What I mind is the fact that for 80% of the game, you're basically playing a VN that consists of incest family drama just out of the blue, the last 20% is going to be about spy missions, saving each other from evil corp etc etc. You get the gist.
  • Everything is just not that engaging - The most subjective thing, kinda like everything in life, but still worth talking about. I'm not that deep into the lore of writing, but I know there are many tricks and strategies in order to create engaging characters and character arcs. But most VNs don't know how to do this. Imagine Arieth without a humour factor; that's most characters in VNs (not all, mind you).
  • Lack of or failure to touch on interesting themes: The story doesn't touch on any interesting topics, and if it does, it fails to do so well.
That's what makes BaDIK work in my opinion:
  • There are of course certain moments when that isn't true, but for the most part, characters in BaDIK have well-established personalities and they act accordingly to those personalities while also making decisions based on implied desires and wants that they do not talk about.
  • It's not that everything is quite normal and then, BOOM all of a sudden, MC decides to leave B&R because of some poor excuse. Everything is over the top; everything is consistent in this over-the-topness. I don't think BaDIK will ever be Oppenheimer, Joker or bringing back the Last of Us Part 2 meme, Schindler's List. But I think in the crazy world that it established, it's pretty damn consistent, which helps with the suspension of disbelief. DPC also makes the world feel more alive thanks to Rooster, text messages and putting characters in the background. MC talks to Derek while walking through campus and suddenly notices Jamie walking with Riona. It really helps with making the world feel alive, consistent and engaging for the player.
  • I really like how engaging everything is. At the end of the day, it's not that deep and most characters are well-known stereotypes. But they are still consistently written, sometimes with a twist. Not placing all cards on the table while still leaving breadcrumbs here and there also helps the engagement. Good humour and the ability to make it so that different characters display different kinds of humour And there are so many of those characters (impressive fact that they're so consistent while being so many of them), so many of them interact with each other to push the story forward and if not, then at least allow for really interesting dynamics.
  • As said previously. BaDIK ain't that serious to talk about existential topics like some cyberpunk distopia discussing the idea of mortality. But for the simplest topics it discusses, it does a really good, or at least a solid job. The moments when DPC just speaks from the heart behind MC's dialogue are like an adult version of a Disney movie. I love the movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It's one of the best animated movies I've ever seen and without going too deeply into this, the message of the movie and the scene "What's Up Danger" are just something that clicks with my life and is something I've always deeply cherished. BaDIK ain't written as well as this thing, but it does the job. Maybe for someone cynical it won't be much; maybe it's only for immature teenagers, like r/Im14andthisisdeep, lol, but I always loved a good moral speech or at least a good-hearted thing at the end of the movie.
I know the game still has many narrative flaws, and I know that it really stretches the suspension of disbelief the moment it gives players a choice, like, for example, the ability to fuck 10 girls in one night. But when I look at Being a Dik, I don't see unreadable nonsense. I see something that, with changes to things done for the player's power fantasy, transitioning the VN choices format into one-and-done canon, and transforming writing for a game into writing for a book (with narration, etc.), I can see something that wouldn't throw our asses off chairs but at least a good-hearted, feel-good read.

I haven't talked about me having sex with them, nor I called them cheaters. I was talking about emotional investment. Also that was my attempt at depicting ntr fetishists.

because they're not real.
Yeah... so? BaDIK is a piece of media and as any other piece of media it establishes an emotional connection with a player. Here's an analogy for you. Why are people afraid of Freddy Krueger when they're watching Friday 13th or whatever this movie is called? They're very well aware he's not real, but they feel emotions nevertheless, fear in this case. Through music, story and suspense the movie engages a viewer and elicits emotional response from them.

Disliking a fetish is one thing but it often goes beyond that on here.
Can't you guess why? Because you(not specifically you) are annoying and can't take NO for an answer. You want a character that is not in a romantic relationship with a player to be sexually and romantically involved with another character for the sake of realism. But when DPC tells you NO, you start crying and claim "that's not really NTR" and it is "realistic" because of this and that. And when fans of that respective character show up and say they don't want that shit either, you start spamming blacked porn thinking you somehow "own" these fans or something, which only proves that you never actually cared about realism, you just want to satisfy your cuck fetish.

In fact, every time Joshy simps, our Fuckface in one version of BaDIK Multiverse comes up with the right solution:

Let's not get in the way of Joshy simping, making the BaDIK world better.
The miserable ridicule of the peasants cannot hurt the honor of the recognized Leader of the world Simps movement.
