This is the limit of this type of narration, more focused on the action than on the memory. The little we know of the main character is told through short scenes around his parents and Zoey. But apart from that, what are his motivations? How does he see the future for himself and others? It’s difficult because, and this is rarely discussed, the MC has little personality outside of drinking and fucking. Bella has shown an appreciation for his music with him learning her favourite song. What else is there for her to bond with him over?
All these existential questions, inherent to this period of life when one builds himself alone for the first time, are evaded perhaps to better let the players appropriate his personality; perhaps because Dr PinkCake doesn't know how to deal with this complex subject. The only introspection of our hero is exclusively turned towards the love interests.
Seizing the day without being afraid of tomorrow (Carpe Diem), doesn't exempt from being inspired by the past, nor from looking to the future. Without even mentioning marriage, living as a couple is already a decisive step for someone who has never known his mother and whose father has never remarried. However, I still hope that the creator of the game will start talking about it once we are dedicated to a love interest.
