no you need the dick pic out of episode 5 too, otherwise this scene will not be shown.
What happens if you launch the ball against Tybalt every time during the tennis match? I have never done that, but I think you break Tybalt's teeth. Which one are the consequences? Bella is mad, I suppose. What happens with Sage?

sorry, but where did I go wrong?? my character fell in love with Sage and doesn't want to fuck anyone anymore!!!! How can I fix it?
Use Universal Ren'Py Mod. You can literally chose your path, change variables on the fly and get all the scenes you want. Have been using it for years on every single Ren'Py game and it never broke a single save.

I'm expecting it to get very dark at some point as well. Tbh I think unlike Acting Lessons this game will become worse for it. I think it worked so well in AL because of the more contained scope and cast alongside the surprise. BaDIK is far bigger and has more characters it's also very popular without leaning into been dark and we also all know it's coming.

Sage, Bella, Josy, Maya, Jill, manwhore and it looks like Zoe will all be major paths. How on earth can you impact that many with dark twists or a dark twist without It feeling heavy handed or contrived? Never mind make it satisfying.

I hope I am wrong but I have a horrible feeling it'll fall flat in comparison to AL.
Oh boy, saying that it worked well for AL will surely get you a lot of mentions :KEK:

I don't necessarily disagree. AL was built around that scene. In BADIK it would change the tone of the game completely.

I don't think you do.

I don't mind BADIK turning dark, if it's avoidable with MC's (the player) decisions. It could be the point for the game: to avoid that as many characters as possible for have a bad ending.

For example, all we know that Sage's destiny is dark, but at least I hope there will be a path in witch MC can be there for her, and will be able to avoid that she falls into darkness if he has adopted the right decisions during the gameplay, has been faithful and sincere with her, and has earned her trust and love.

The problem with Acting Lessons was the player didn't has any control over the destiny of story and the characters. If I don't remember wrong, out of the blue there was a fire in a house that nobody could prevent or avoid, and he had to choose between saving one or another character. People were disappointed and even angry because it's an awfully lazy and dirty way to end up a story. It's like if DPC thought "Fuck, I'm tired of this. I'm going to end up this game anyhow and fuck if players got fond of the characters"

Maybe DPC learned a bit from episode 9 development? Already making animations, and 37 are done already... Well we can assume, they will be animations again which are kinda pointless, some like them, i dont think they add that much to the game. But if he can do them without delaying the overall development that much, its fine... But that didnt worked out for the last release. In fact those animations delayed the whole episode about two months. Getting animations practically in the first week of development done is a good way to start the process. In the last development schedule DPC has added the the animations to the queue a lot later. I knew he would make many animations again, he simply loves to do them... even if it means a meaningless character out of a movie-scene is walking. But if they are done without getting in the way, its ok... starting this early with them is a very good approach i think. Could make the overall development of the episode much faster and smoother. Last time it was only waiting time left the last two months for unnecessary animations. He has do avoid that.

More Minigames... no surprise here, he loves to make them, we all know that. The partyplanning minigame wasnt well received though (but again, DPC ignores many critics, he does that all the time... well success gives him the right to do so i think... he doesnt need to care). I think its was a nice idea, but not well made... especially the totally random things about this minigame were annoying... there was a RNG for the mansion game too, but not that annoying. It didnt matter at all for the mansion game cause you can always win it very easily, but for the party planer... even if you make it PERFECT you cant always get a A or S-rank.. its only possible in a few starting formations... and you cant influence them. That was annoying. But... well... didnt matter in the end.

And yeah he wants to make it a smaller episode... well... heard that before... he wanted to make them smaller since episode 6. And they were getting bigger and bigger... though, in playtime and for the overall lenghts of scenes, episode 9 was shorter. Cause it was a big free roam with many little variables it turned out to need more renders, but the numbers didnt boost the playtime that much cause the scenes werent THAT different cause they were always playing in the same room, just the lines and characters were different. Playing episode 7 or 8 for example was overall way more differently for each path, with a whole other set on locations an persons in it... That is a whole other feeling to play. And took me longer to play than episode 9, where it didnt matter on what path you are, the locations were always the exact same. Didnt liked that about the episode. Render-count doesnt mean more playtime, episode 9 showed that to me. The comparsion to Acting Lesson is interesting. Acting Lesson doesnt have 5000 renders as a complete game, it has about 4800 renders (and way less animations)... but playing the game does take WAY LONGER than playing being a dik epsiode 9. DPC changed a lot impressions while the talking was done this time... i dont think that you need every second line a new render too. This does boost the render count immense, but dont add anything to the playtime...

well to be honest... the render count itself didnt take that long to develop. The renders were pretty much done in september already. which would be a 6 months release... would be fine. There were other reason why it took so long, and DPC needs to learn from that.

As i said at the beginning, this status report shows to me a little that he might learned something, especially on approaching the animations... though he will obviously not cut them shorter, but is doing them way earlier in the process. This could work out too.
let me get this right ep 10 gonna be shorter than 9?

It was not out of the blue tho, the nurse showcased psycho behaviour early on. And sadly, in reality, no choice we make can change a lot in our lives. We don't happen to life, life happens to us. And AL/DPC ran with it. Knowing he'd get shit for it.

AL has gapping holes, but I enjoy it and it's twist. At the end of the day, DPC doesn't have to cater to the fans. He told the story he wanted to tell.

the main dramatic turns are necessarily universal or at most can be confined to the epilogue of the story

one of the most debated examples: if Riona or Quinn have to die at some point, they will do so for all players and for all games, otherwise from that point onwards the game would almost split into two, which would be too much work for the developer.

but everything that DPC has told us suggests that we should limit ourselves to sentimental dramas, doors slamming, girls pinagging, etc.

Another post about small details in the game. The MC, depending on the decisions, reacts differently to the meeting with Burke. Here is one moment when he goes to the restroom to catch his breath and calm down.
1. Chosen path is Jill, Sage's route is closed in Ep.8. There was no romance with Jade. MC is a little nervous, his eyes are open and we see that it is not very difficult for him to perceive this.

2. The second reaction is the safe Sage's path, without having sex with Jade. Or vice versa if I selected Others and I had Jade's route open. We can see that the MC is under a lot of stress, this situation plunged him into shock, so his facial muscles are tense and his eyes are closed.

3. And another option that I found. It was difficult, but I managed to see it. This facial expression appears if you chose Sage, but at the same time fucked her mom. I have already shown Jade's reaction to the breakup. So, the difference with the previous render is different eyebrows. But it seems to me that he has even more stress here and MC is ready to cry. And the forehead looks even more wrinkled. You can make claims to DPC as much as you like, which is what many do, but it’s hard to find fault with the emotions elaboration. It took me a while to notice it.

I was hyped that MC was going to fight Vinnie, then he pulled a gun like a little bitch.
Part of the character, a coword.

MC can beat him easily since he knows martial arts.
Wouldnt say it like that... Overall Tommy was a hard to beat opponent for him... (not to mention Sage :D)

yeah he can do martial arts, but self-teached... even in the gym the random guy talked to him that he has to do better in a REAL fight, just by watching him working with the punching bag...

"knowing" martial arts, and be good in it is a totally different thing. And beating up some stupid jocks isnt that high up in the ranks, cause they dont know shit about fighting obviously. It was clear that even chad didnt know how to fight in the slightest... he was only muscle. Caleb too, or better said, caleb didnt take the mc seriously and he didnt care about the kicks and punches from the mc that much.

We dont know anything about Vinnys fighting abilities... but what we know, he is a coward-bitch and street-gangster... those people doesnt fight 1 on 1, they cheat. Pulling out the gun was indeed absolutely character fit for him. But it doesnt mean that he couldnt fight with the mc and maybe even win. The MC is not chuck norris.
He fights dirty, from his character if he could beat up and humilliate MC he would have done it.

Yeah, that's why nobody should be killed.

For instance, let's say that Quinn ends up in jail no matter what and for all paths, (let's face it, I´m a Quinn lover, but she deserves it). Well, there would be a difference between ending up in jail being hated by MC, Sage, Riona and the others DIKs and HOTs, and ending up in jail after having some kind of redemption and being able to maintain the friendship of MC, Sage, Riona and the other characters.

Or, as I said in my previous post, we all know that Sage's destiny is dark as hell. At some point her sorority and her family are going to collapse on her head, probably no matter what. But there would be a huge difference between ending up sad as hell and totally alone, not trusting her family, her sisters or even MC, because he was unfaithful to her with other girls or even her own mother, or at least ending up sad as hell, but loving and trusting MC and finding comfort in him and at least some friends.

Not endings AL style: "everything you have done so far doesn't matter because there is a meteorite that is going to destroy B&R and you can only save one person"

Sometimes that's what makes good stories, even the ones where a player interacts and heavily influences events. Life doesn't go according to plan, and so much is outside of our control, so to a certain extent I think it's a valid grip to use in a story.

A shame the MC is such a pussy though:
cool stat +10 "You're not going to shoot me... You know what sure go ahead shoot me at a school and see what happens. Right now you're a two bit dealer no one gives a fuck about but let's see how long you can avoid the cops after killing a student at a prestigious prep school"
