I started the week posing static renders and finished a longer Jill scene. After this, I revisited the planning phase for episode 10, trying to map out the remaining events on the episode timeline and plan some more.

I checked what I'd done and what was left to do, and visually seeing this progress made me realize that episode 10 would be another big one. I believe I have mapped out close to everything I want in the episode now, which feels great.
Then I spent part of the week writing dialogue and coding for the phone and generally had a very good flow.

I've done a lot so far, especially when you account for most of the mini-games being completed and added to the episode, but I have plenty of manual labor left.
I counted the segments on the timeline and found that I have created 29/51 (57%) parts and have 22/51 (43%) parts left to create.

Of those remaining 22 parts, 4 are free-roam events (two small ones, one medium-sized, and one long), and the rest are lewd and normal scenes. The parts range from short to long, and some include multiple different scenes and variations.
I've been bumping my render and animation quality in Season 3, but my render power has more or less stayed the same for quite some time now. I decided to invest a lot more into hardware and am currently in the process of upgrading my systems with 4090s and building brand-new rigs.

It's unreal to me that I can do this at this scale. My thoughts go back to the first year of development when I had a single PC with one 1080 Ti and had to wait months to afford more RAM. I'm immensely thankful for being able to do this upgrade, and it's all thanks to you guys.

At the moment, I have upgraded my systems with +50% extra render power. Shortly, I plan to increase that to roughly 90% total extra power compared to before the upgrade. This means these upgrades will almost double my render speed, pushing the bottleneck further toward manual labor - which is me sitting by the PC working.

The upgrade I did this week immediately affected my render queue. I have 0 static renders in the queue for the first time in months, and only 26 animations remain. I believe these animations will be done within 1-2 weeks.

The good thing now is knowing that the renders and animations I pose will render twice as fast. This puts more pressure on my manual work but alleviates the waiting time at the end of the development cycle.

As I already see results from the PC upgrade, I will return to posing animations next week.

I love the game development right now, and the hardest thing for me is to choose what I want to work with every day because there are a lot of fun scenes left to create. Let's fucking go!

Have a nice weekend

I don't think he wants faster updates with the new cards. Patreon model don't incentivize that, but it does push the cycle to more beefy updates. Still a win if you don't mind the waiting.

In a nutshell, there will only be one episode this year and the time he will gain will be used to make more mini games and more animations that do not contribute anything but will now be 2 minutes longer.

I Love the Free Roaming :)
I have mixed feelings about the free roams. I enjoy them when they are opportunities to explore and engage in optional content. The episode 9 free roam felt more like a throwback to an old sandbox AVN where you had to hunt around to find all the obligatory tasks that may as well be done linearly without the free roam.

I feel you in some aspects but thanks to those free roam i feel much more inside the Game. I Love to know where every Room is etc. :)

Unfortunately I speak from experience back in episode 6 everyone was so sure its an early release cuz he did an upgrade to his CPU when i said it will come out in November December many said I'm crazy and its a September release.
it came out in the end of November.
trust me I'm praying that I'm wrong but history with him (and I have been patron from ep 2) taught me otherwise.
Episode 6 take him long because of the DnG animations, it take long to be animated, the real upgrade started with episode 7, and he actually finished that episode faster, and because of that that episode had a 2 week beta test time, the longest beta test.
Will see, but this is the first time he was not immediately bragging about how he gonna use it to upgrade the quality , and exclusively talked about how happy he is because of the speed.:LOL:
We need to wait a couple more week to see what he gonna say in the next couple of status report, regarding of Speed.

The problem with the freeroams is the fact that it still plays as a linear story. Given the amount of paths available it should be that things are happening simultaneously and if you go to a certain room then you see something but miss something in another room. So if you're on an MG route then you basically have a linear route spending time with them, but on the others route you can choose which girls you see and in which situations.
It would also add in diversity for cheating points system.

the only thing i have to say about this: we can hypothetically imagine plenty of scenarios where he could speed up his process. we can even take him at his word that the percentages have finally increased and things will move along faster now.

but as it as been from the very beginning, DPC has always been able to speed things up and finish BaDIK faster but has yet to actually do so. no matter what platitudes he gives us, i think its very fair to say he will finish this game as fast as he feels like. and that pace has never been particularly fast

That's psychology but I do wonder if DPC being now the only bottleneck would make him stress and overwork since he will always look to beat the rendering speed to always keep the queue active and busy.
I'm surprised he hasn't burned out yet. According to him, he works 12-18 hours a day, seven days a week. He hasn't had a normal vacation in 4 years.
He never explicitly stated he worked 7 days a week. He said 12-18 hours a day each day of the week. A week can be a working week (5 days) or a full week (7 days), but his recent update actually gives me the impression he doesn't work weekends.

"I will return to posing animations next week."

The fact that he does the status update letting us know what he's worked on for the week on a Friday, and then starts telling us what he'll do "next week", I get the impression that starts on Monday.

So I'm going with, he works long hours Mon-Fri, then he takes a break on the weekend while his rigs just keep on chugging along.

If he's smart, he won't work harder than that, there's absolutely no reason to.

Honestly I don't get that criticism. If you look at some of the best VNs in this forum (according to the overall average rating), they all take like 4-5 months for their updates and BaD is probably the most complex with the most permutations by now. So taking about 6 months for an update is not as outragiously long as a lot of people make it out to be.

And if people are annoyed, that he takes patreon money monthly while the updates take so long...well no one is forcing those people to stay subscribed, right? 4-6 months simply seems to be the time it takes to make a quality VN as a small or even single developer, deal with it.
If he capped the dev time to 6 months, that'd be OK, but the last episode took 9 months, and it was the most disappointing episode (at least for me) so far!

The episodes are taking longer and longer and it's a continuing trend, just look at the development time in mpa71's Big Table. He needs to cap that shit and realise that bigger doesn't always mean better.

I hope he takes at least ONE day off a week. Working at such a pace without interruption is insane. Chronic fatigue, irritability, then nightmares about game development and then finally inability to work and burnout.

DPC - Yes, this guy, what's his name... Oh, yes, Geralt. Geralt is right. I perform a feat every day. But I'm not complaining. I'm doing this for you guys. I can't help it. That's the way I am.

Well, it always depends on motivation. I work every week at least 40-50 hours in special field. But still I do not get even fraction of donation. Of course money is not everything, but if it is funded by community it should be well spend on hiring team/proffesionals.
