Often, other AVNs focus on a couple LIs at a time instead of all of them, so people whine about losing half the content instead, but updates are released a bit faster. But yeah, branching are becoming crazy, given that a small choice couple Ep ago can change something much later. In fairness if you do the early parts of the game focusing on only one girl or JaM the game has that same feel of the romance and fucking part not been that substantial.
I think it's a problem with any game that branches or offers choice. Once it gets down to the part where everything splits of it feels anemic compared to the options you had before. I think it's basically unavoidable for any game that has many real branches.
Doesn't help it's not done so we experience it in chunks a year apart at this point. When the game is done the branchinng may feel worthwhile and feel like our choices mattered but with such a big gap that first play through feels like you're getting a bite sized chunk of what you used to.
For the update releases, avoided playing Ep9 when it got out, cause I wanted to wait for Ep10 to have content. Last time I did that, it was after the end of Ep5, the infamous Josy/Maya revelation, stopped playing til the Interlude got out and remembered about the game (it's not that I didn't like it, that revelation pissed me in a good way, kinda, but hey, got unto other games in the meanwhile), had hours of gameplay, and had to start anew cause I forgot half the things I saw, also I had only played as a Massive Chick til then, found out I missed over half the game by playing other paths.
Replaying it right now cause yeah, managed to forget many things still in the last, and also managed to lose my saves so yeah... but been nearly 2 years I haven't played.
Those increasingly long update releases don't help, but well, still is a huge AVN.
Also, while I didn't play Ep9 yet, still remember most people being pissed at it... and well, from reading many comments since then, opinions turned around. Same will happen with those not liking this one.
