I think you're on to something DW.

DPC was sitting there one day and said to himself. I am ever going to get this update out.

Well fairs fair and he realized he had to block himself. So he did and now he can't get back in to unblock himself, it's a vicious circle, but long story short, all his computers are locked and until he can figure out a way to get back in we're never seeing Episode 11.

Of course, he could pay someone to get him back in, but DPC gonna DPC.

I don't know why, but I have the feeling that this game will never cross the finish line. Normally, the development is still relatively relaxed at the start and the further the plot progresses, the more complex the development becomes. If this really is a one-man show ... then it could take another 10 years until the finale ... then the beginning will be 15 years old ... which again calls for a rework somewhere ... so I hope I'm not right but oh well

While he has shown interest of remastering it, he has said that he won't do that until after he's finished since he would also change some stuff so he would need to rework stuff in the whole game.
I really doubt he won't finish it. I can't see any reason for him not to finish the game, unless he gets seriously sick, and even then he would only take a longer break. This is literally his dream game.

Yes, I know that from myself. Perfectionism or loving your work can sometimes be really bad. It can happen that you just don't finish. When there are 200,000 people waiting for it ... I don't know ... not really funny ;-) but I'll leave you alone and come back in 2026 or 27 or something like that ... i suppose some people also wish that the game would never be finished ... because then the thread here would also have reached its end ... what do you do all day then
