We might be making a mistake by assuming that everything that shaped her personality was one big event, it could have been a bunch of smaller ones. Like a rapey ex-bf, an old school father that wants her to find a husband instead of wasting her time in college, a brother that took the blame when a naked lady was found in their house, and since she has trouble getting close to guys she might have tried it with girls. I'm just assuming a lot, but it could be something similar to this.

I think we'll have separate girl routes - so if something happens to Maya in, let's say, Sage's route, that wouldn't mean it'll happen in her route.
