Chances are you've seen the ridiculously high rating this game has, doing especially well with the high average over so many votes, so you don't need me telling you how good the many parts of this game are. The ladies are hot, the porn is great and plentiful, the story is dramatic and funny at turns, the characters are characters, the choices matter, in both the long and short terms.
Great stuff all round.
The only reason I'm really adding my 2 cents here is for anyone new to this game who is like me. So if you're of the impression that this game's *exclusively* gonna be a feel good romp through a cavalcade of various, well-developed women and sexy scenarios (and you might still come to that conclusion after reading on; e.g. I got the impression after the fact that one of the episode ends was a lot more controversial and heart rending than I found it, so ymmv), then read on.
Now, it's been a while since I came across this game for the first time, so I can't exactly point you to where I came across this information, but I vividly recall between the general content of conversations in this thread as well as the game's own intro (I think maybe it comes up in the intro with Jill that plays the very first time you boot the game up) getting the impression that shit would get dramatic. That there would be difficult choices, darker narrative elements, avenues by which you might properly fuck shit up etc.
And despite getting this fair warning I played this game and, ignoring the hints at this underlying reality that cropped up, had a great time playing and replaying episodes 1-5 and treating this game like a straightforward, wish-fulfilment, "I'm the super capable super desirable MC that all these hot chicks want to bone", type story.
But it weren't ever supposed to be like that, and so I wasn't treating it the way the author had given me fair warning to treat it.
Then came episode 6, which I played the first hour or so of. Then came to these forums trying to gauge if what had started happening early in that episode was a minor deviation from my imagined version of the game. And the impression I got was a firm affirmation that, yes, I was stupid to ignore the game that the game told me from the start that it was going to be.
So, properly recognising the game for what it is, I decided it's not the game for me, and so stopped playing it.
And so the only advice *I* can really give anyone reading reviews to try and decide whether to play this game is this: when the game tells you what it's going to be like, believe it.
Don't be a dumb shit like I was.
If it still sounds like your jam once you're seeing it properly, then it's probably something you should play
