Great update... and quite dark (although it was expected, it's kinda surpassed my expectations)... and things keeps getting worse :( (especially on Massive DIK "fuck them all" path, which is of course obvious). Seems that even without burnt house and psycho stalker bitch this game will be no less depressing than AL for me. :cautious:
P.S. While Sage solidifying her position as number one in my top, in the battle for the second place Quinn flushes Jill into the void. All hail the Quinn!

Being a DIK [v0.6.0] [Dr PinkCake] - Original Size: 3.1GB (Update Only)

Compressed UPDATE ONLY
done by UnRen v0.8 (Sam@F95zone) & Cruncher v0.4.1 (bas@F95zone)

Download Win/Linux (700MB): MEGA - -
NOTE: New steps have been added for those have the version v0.5.2 unpacked. Read the text file included in zipped file if you are one of these.

This compression is unofficial. Compressing process reduces image/audio/video quality and can break the game, be aware of that.
can i use this to update an uncompressed game?

I'm going to try to remain optimistic regarding this VN and potential endings, as I've said a few times, I liked the writing and characters/dialogue in AL, but I'll never replay it ever knowing that twist/ending it has. It really bummed me out, which I know is the point of the twist, but I don't play VN's to get stressed out and depressed. It's escapism I'm looking for, but if DPC takes advantage of players like that again I for one won't support any more projects. Once is fine, I can accept that, but when it becomes a constant gimmick, it wears thin.. quickly.

I know, I was only joking, if it weren't for Maya/Josy, Jill and/or Bella favorites of mine. I just always laugh when her character comes on screen and her eyes are *wide* open, unblinking... like she's a terminator or something.
That scene when Bella leave MC room and DIK's applaud her and Bella look at them... Haha, I love this scene.

Why Rusty? I think it's Nick on behalf of Vinny (or even Vinny outright). Even at the strip joint Nick as all sad about Vinny leaving. There's definitely more to that dudes story.

Bacchus,
Why would you expect otherwise? You played AL same as I did. I remember, several several (thousand) pages ago maybe, saying the DPC is a limited capability writer and will stick to the tricks he knows. Maybe he doesn't kill a love interest this time, or give our wingman cancer, but he certainly is about denying logic, and incapable of writing a reasonable story without resorting to his sledge hammer. I said it before, and I say it now. We may have a good outcome, but only if you were mostly a chik and not fucked everyone, and made your decision early and stuck with it. Realistic? No, none of this is. Trope that DPC sticks to? Absolutely.
"Good Outcome" is opinion.

As a DIK player, who only speed runs chicky to unlock scenes, I have no doubt that DPC will deliver an enjoyable ending.

But then again I had no issues with Acting Lessons either, ended with Reina and did my fair share of side fucking.

One thing to keep in mind is, DPC is planning on at least 3 seasons, meaning 12 episodes, we're at the literal half way point of the game.

Don't forget that he was the only one with a clean room too. That's just kinda weird to me

That's more or less how I felt after playing Acting Lessons; DPC has a genuine gift for creating compelling characters - ones with the potential to truly move us as players - but he is irresponsible with the power that gives him. Leveraging that sort of emotional investment is certainly a classic trope, but it requires a delicate touch. Don Bluth pretty much made his career by stopping just short of scarring my childhood for life!
It's bordering on troubling that DPC just can't seem to stop themselves from making everything feel dark, and hopeless, and depressing. This game could easily be much lighter in tone but with just enough drama and intrigue to keep you going, basically how it felt through the first 5 episodes, but this episode has taken a sharp heel turn in a few directions that are taking that feeling away and rather than being excited for each new update, it instead fills you with an impending sense of dread because about what he's going to ruin next.

I feel like I've lost all optimism for anything to go the way I or anybody else might hope it will go because in an episode called "Damage Control" almost nothing was controlled, more heavy stuff was introduced without addressing what's come before, it wasted so much time with the pointless and bloated DnG filler, and it's taking choices away from us that really don't feel like they should be taken away. So it's actually caused more damage and is taking away a lot of control from the player.

I would like nothing more than for DPC to turn this around, to make us think it's all doom and gloom for a while, but then lighten up towards the end, but I'm thinking that either they're not capable of doing that or simply don't want to, and both those possibilities suck.

there is only a slight counteract to that, nick said that vinny disliked tommy. doing something against the other diks, like the cathy post, might put tommy in charge and thats the last thing nick or vinny want.

Neither did I, but my point has been that it's all too much too soon. If you think about this like a TV show, each episode can move the drama forward incrementally, but it's not until we get to near the end of the season that it all starts to come to a head. This episode felt like it was the 3rd or even 2nd to last episode of a TV show's season, but we're potentially not even halfway done with this game yet, so they're amping this drama up way too soon and in ways that are too heavy-handed.
I'm still holding out hope that all of this just has to be some sort of elaborate ruse DPC is pulling on us - i mean, didn't he/she clearly state that BaDIK wouldn't even come close to AL levels of drama...? At this point i'm actually feeling bad about all the times (over the past year) i've told people that there was zero percent chance of us having to suffer through an AL 2.0 experience.

And i have no idea why DPC even felt the need to just rush into multiple drama filled story lines at once - everything Quinn/drug business related, the mom stuff, Tybalt potentially sueing our MC, Maya's crazy father showing up, Jade resigning and the tape apparently getting leaked (i'm definitely missing a couple of things) - it's exactly like you said: Everything just feels insanely rushed.
And to top that off, i'm increasingly worried about getting completely locked out of certain characters content and my choices seemingly mattering less and less.

Considering the current pacing, would anybody be suprised if i told them that this game would end within the next 4 episodes? (just half a year ago i would've called myself crazy for simpy entertaining a thought like this)

Holy Bacchus Do you actually know if DPC is a dude? Getting kinda tired of the he/she prounoun hassle :D

Arigon You might've overshot the mark multiple times this past year regarding your critisicm of this game (or at least that's how i felt at times), but i gotta admit that you were right at least in the sense that DPC apparently just can't help himself and keeps falling back into his old development patterns. (y)

I'm curious when the MC will play the song he's learning for Jill. Hope it will be a great scene. I look forward to it.

Man, am I glad to stay with the Ice Queen path to avoid the blackmail of Jill and be outside of Maya's problem ; just a frien helping getting rid of her father.

I can go carefree and just worry about Bella throwing me into the dump when her husbands returns from being MIA/AWOL/resurrects/re-change sex/exits the Phantom Zone/lockpicks the infamous room in Bella's house.
