Dude, you gotta accept when people are trying to meet you halfway in these discussions.
Maya can be an annoying, whiny, pain in the ass. She has been selfish, and no one is denying this.
But she's not a monster either. She's a young woman whose dad has smothered her growth such that she isn't equipped to stand on her own two feet, or at least she doesn't think she is.
The whole tasering and stuff, while I joked about it earlier, Quinn and her cohort would have played it off as typical. They would have convinced her it was no big deal and Maya would have gone back to worrying about her own bullshit.
As far as she was concerned, all her eggs were in the HOTs free tuition basket, her life was basically on hold until she solved this big issue, and so her own problems are all she can think about.
She keeps doing this, thinking whatever it is, is her only chance, and like the mc says to her in the closing scene of episode 8, "I feel I've heard you say that before, Maya."
So yeah, she needs to calm the fuck down, think her options through carefully instead of these hairbrained schemes (and I can't see the Burkes are gonna hand her a silver bullet either).
So Maya has made a lot of mistakes in this story, and her inability to solve her own issues gets on some people's nerves, like really badly. But other people see her as someone who needs a break in life.
Every character in the game is flawed, and that's great, it's what makes them interesting and provides fodder for discussion. Unfortunately the discussions are typical so hyperbolic that people lose sight of what they are discussing:
Maya Fan: "I like Maya, she has a cute ass."
Maya Detractor: "You're fucked in the head, Maya is a fucking hypocrite of the highest order, she's draining the mc's blood to make money to fund her lesbian lifestyle, she is literally the worst fucking character in the history of AVNs!"
Maya Fan: "That's bullshit, she is so sweet and innocent, nothing is her fault, her dad raped her as a child and now Quinn wants to rape her too! She needs the mc to help her because she hasn't developed the common sense of a 3 year old yet. It's not fair, poor Maya, I hope she'll suck my dick one day!"
Maya Detractor: "OMG You simpering fuckhead! No one in their right mind would want to help such a succubus! Maya just uses people and then casts them away once she has sucked the marrow from their bones!"
Maya Fan: "Fuck you! I hope you and your family die in a burning car crash. Maya is more important to me than any living human being (except my mom, I need her to pay the bills to keep the basement lights on and my porn streaming)! I bet you're a Quinn fan, oh yeah I know you are! She is the epitome of evil, by liking her, you are basically selling your soul to the devil!"
Quinn Fan: "What the fuck are you smoking? Quinn had a hard upbringing. Her dad's dead in case you didn't know, she has to sell drugs and pimp girls out, how else is she gonna make it through college. Grow a fucking brain!"
Maya Detractor: "Haha Maya Simp hasn't got a brain!"
Quinn Fan: "You're a fucking moron too! Who do you fucking like? Bella? You wouldn't have the package to satisfy her!"
Maya Detractor: "WTF! You wanna screw Quinn, she looks like a guy!"
Felice: "I like the Madame, she has a cute ass."
Maya Fan / Maya Detractor / Quinn Fan: "Fuck off!"
