I think you are underestimating DPC's drive and determination. The man is an absolute machine when it comes to his projects. And I wouldn't limit his options to just a less pornographic VN. I'm thinking something more along the lines of an actual video game (if he creates an indie co), something without the constraints of visual novels or even Renpy. AL and BaDIK are his personal projects so he doesn't want or need any assistance, but if he wants to hit the big time, then an indie company is the way to go.

DPC has a rabid fanbase that will follow him to the end no matter what he does next, PG, R, or X. If Icstor can retain thousands of Patreon cows without providing anything, then DPC will certainly keep the majority of his fans after BaDIK. That Patreon/Steam money train is never going to stop running.

DPC could easily be improving animations and render quality not only for BaDIK, but as practice for his next mainstream game. These skills are quite transferrable to the non-porn market. And let us not forget his mini games and filler. If that doesn't scream mainstream, I don't know what does. But I think part of the desire to switch markets is ego driven and another part is to constantly improve his work.

DPC has an ego and this is not necessarily a bad thing. Ego can be a catalyst for improvement. I believe he wants (and maybe even needs) more mainstream recognition. That kind of thing can be intoxicating to someone who was a nobody just a few years ago. I don't think he wants to be known for the rest of his life as a porn game dev. He certainly seems almost giddy when prominent mainstream youtubers and such take a liking to his games.

Regarding the desire to improve, DPC has already mastered the AVN market. Like the great commanders of old, the best are always looking to conquer new territory. There is little more DPC can do with AVNs and he has talked about making sure he does everything he wants to do with BaDIK before moving on to the next game. Another AVN would just be BaDIK with a new skin. I think he is eager to challenge himself outside of AVN world.

Certainly the pandemic partially cleared AVNs, but it's not like the video game market was waiting with folded arms for its new star. it's a very competitive industry, assuming DPC "made it" to make the leap, on the other hand it would be one of many, sure it would enter a more stable environment (all it takes is for patreon to change a few rules and it blows up), but I doubt it would achieve, at least in the short term, the same gains it has now

To hear him talk about the poll, it sounds like he has seen all he needs to see. The poll is supposed to be live for another week, but I thought 14 days was too long anyway, and my thoughts seem to be like his - the trends won't change given 7 more days or 70.

Anyway, here are the trends he's talking about. Remember, these results are not across all tiers, but it should give you an idea of how patrons are voting.

Sometimes the patrons are stuck with poor choices, and sometimes they simply make poor choices (IMHO). BUT WHO THE FUCK ARE THE 118 PEOPLE THAT WOULD RATHER SEE RENDERS OF GUYS???

None of the choices seem to be mutually exclusive. For instance, you can vote for all three of these:

• I am OK with seeing costume spoilers
• I'd rather NOT see any costume spoilers
• I'd rather see costume spoilers than Special renders

You can also vote for both of these:

• I'd rather see previews of Side characters than Main characters
• I'd rather see previews of Main characters than Side characters

So it is conceivable that some or all of the 118 idiots might actually have voted for guys AND girls. Maybe that would lessen their idiocy, but not by much.

I'll tell you: I don't think it will end well for Quinn and Tommy.

I think DrPinkCake's philosophy is: you have to pay the price for your actions.

The MC once said something to Maya. Everyone deserves a second chance. Josy and Maya got their second chance.

With Quinn, we're not even at the second chance stage yet. Yes, she did indeed "rape" the MC on the sperm petition. But let's face it. Quinn is already a horny girl, an MC should be able to get over something like that. After all, it wasn't Linda. But Quinn is doing illegal activities that could be punished by someone else, and I see that coming for Quinn. Whether it's Vinny wanting revenge because Quinn interfered with his business with the Pink Rose Girls, or there actually being police surveillance. Sage should also not be forgotten when she finds out what Quinn is doing behind her back.

Tommy got a second chance from the MC when he apologized to the MC in EP6. Until the end of EP8, Tommy was actually behaving correctly towards the MC. At least what we saw. But for Tommy, there could be a bad ending. In EP8, Tommy told Nick that he has his drug use under control. What if he doesn't have that? After all, he meets up with Vinny at the end of EP8.

We also have to remember that Tommy wanted to take on the role of scapegoat for Quinn for some reason. But that should have been taken care of by their argument, which actually means that Tommy wouldn't protect Quinn from anything anymore.

The friendship or acquaintance between Quinn and Tommy has also changed. In the beginning, there were Quinn/Vinny and Quinn/Tommy and Tommy/Lily connections. In EP8, that changed. Quinn/Lily and Tommy/Vinny. This new constellation shows that there will be a fight between Quinn/Lily and Tommy/Vinny. The question I have now is which side is the MC on? HOTs or DIKs.

To be honest, I don't hope anyone gets killed, but you can't completely rule it out.

My personal preference is that DPC retains some lewds in his work. I would happy if he continues in AVNs, but I certainly would not mind if he does a Mass Effect style game. Again, not the same story or even genre, but a story-focused rpg accented with R rating type lewds would be quite fun to play. I actually think there is a market for a good game with softcore elements. The trend in Hollywood and increasingly in games is for less not more female nudity. Pink is now at the peak of his popularity, he hit the jackpot thanks to the pandemic, but no one knows what will happen next. Interest in the game needs to be maintained regularly, the number of patrons is practically not growing, and perhaps in the future there will be fewer of them. It certainly won't be critical for him, but it will affect his future potential project. Even in today's update, he indirectly agrees that he needs to engage in marketing from time to time, maintain interest, because he already has many competitors who give the product regularly, albeit worse.

It's really too early for us to talk about it, I just want this fucking year to end and end well, I've been worrying too much this year.

Even if patreon completely dries up (which I don't think it will), he still has steam. AL and BaDIK are highly rated there and will continue to provide income for years if not decades. DPC has the creativity needed, the work ethic required, and the computer hardware necessary to create any game/genre he wants in the future; full lewd, non-lewd, or combo.

P.S. There are devs on here who essentially only create renders and don't do shit with their games. If DPC is hard up for cash during development of non-AVN, he could post a few renders and his legions of fans will be happy. My point is, money is never going to be an issue for DPC. He could lose half his patreons and still be set for life. The other half will stick with him no matter what project he works on...or doesn't (Icstor taught me this). You don't have to shut down your patreon just because you transition from hardcore to softcore.

I remember seeing that, too. I agree with him. Thankfully, at least in most countries, game platforms like Steam and GOG are willing to make games like that available. I've seen YouTubers play BaDIK, even. While DPC isn't exactly mainstream, he's clearly among the best known makers of this kind of game.
