I hate that song. Especially before he fixed the volume and killed your ears when you started the game.
I hate that song. Especially before he fixed the volume and killed your ears when you started the game.
It's not so that DPC can replace that music. For many long-time fans of the game, a new playthrough can be horrifying because it can feel different. Music is a direct connection to a person's emotions.
There is like dozens of similar bands around the world. I understand that someone may find this loss horrific but I think DPC can replace the music quite easily.
LMAO...they really ignored the use of their songs and the appeal of the DPC for four years. Now they decided to remember about this when DPC and a game became mega-popular. Bitchy move. These dudes don't even have +2k followers on various social media after +8 years of existence, completely unprofessional with reply 4 years later and don't even know what licences they used. DPC can afford buying cash a commercial licence, they still dumb about it.
I'm speechless.
If they did that , this band do not deserve our "wrath".... Trust me.LMAO...they really ignored the use of their songs and the appeal of the DPC for four years. Now they decided to remember about this when DPC and a game became mega-popular. Bitchy move.
The DPC asked not to bully them... but the Internet cannot be stopped if it wants to do something.

Damn, It happened with Ocean and other devs too. Those bands don't want to be attach to porn....It was nice while it lastYou must be registered to see the links
I rarely have to post bad news, but today I must, so let's get it out of the way.
I've been asked to remove all songs from The Friday Prophets from the game.
When I downloaded their songs from Soundcloud, they were uploaded with the CC BY-SA 3.0 license, making them free to use commercially, but this usage wasn't what they intended.
I reached out to them four years ago about using their songs, and I got my reply this week asking me not to use their music and to remove anything I had added since.
It's sad for all of us, for me, the game, and fans, since the songs have grown to become iconic during that time. No replacement to Punk Rock Flu will give the same nostalgic feeling when you start the game or a new episode, at least not for many more future episodes and years to come.
I will respect their copyright and remove all their songs from Seasons 1/2, and 3.
Please, I ask you not to direct any negativity toward them because of this decision.
I truly believed I used their songs in good faith because of the licenses, and it's unfortunate for everyone that it came to this.
I tried my best to replace the songs with similar tunes to preserve the college feeling of the game. We'll see what happens in the future regarding the title song.
Patch v0.8.3 is live
I had to work with preparing new builds for Steam/GOG/Patreon this week, which isn't all that bad since it gave me the chance to include a bunch of other bug fixes alongside this.
This impacted the game development by a few days, but now I don't have to worry about patching Season 1/2 when it's time to release episode 9.
All work with the patches is now done, and I can go back to focusing on episode 9 again.
My team of testers and Discord staff have been awesome in helping out with verifying the bugs and builds, and they saved me a tremendous amount of time by helping out.
The new patches are live on Steam, GOG, and Patreon now.
If you want the latest bug fixes for the Patreon version, version 0.8.3 is availableYou must be registered to see the links.
You can patch your current Patreon v0.8.0/v0.8.1/v0.8.2 version if you'd like to receive all bug fixes. It is a smaller 415 MB patch for episodes 1-8.
If you can't patch your game, the full download (v0.8.3) is also availableYou must be registered to see the links.
There's no new content in v0.8.3, and I didn't post the patch as a big release post as I don't want to confuse anyone into thinking that episode 9 is being released with this patch.
You can find the changelog in the release posts.
Similar changes for Season 3 (Interlude) will come together with the upcoming v0.9.0 release, including episode 9.
Development news
Onto the development news.
Aside from work mentioned above with the patches, I started the week working on static renders.
I also wrote five more scenes for the episode, one per main girl.
I've started planning and working on the new main menu art for Season 3. I want the main menu to look as good as possible for the duration of Season 3. I have made nine new art pieces for the main menu and have 10-15 more to make. Next week's status update will show you a preview of the main menu.
I will continue my work next week to complete this task and then continue with static renders.
PCs have been rendering animations, and there has been no downtime regarding rendering this week.
Thanks for your support and understanding during this unusual time.
We'll get through this!
Have a nice weekend

The best punishment they deserve is we forget about them. Like great Merlin did.If they did that , this band do not deserve our "wrath".... Trust me.

but between being an unknown and probably already dead band, and being an unknown and probably already dead band, but one whose song is used by a porn game, can you explain to me why one would choose the latter? It's not so that DPC can replace that music. For many long-time fans of the game, a new playthrough can be horrifying because it can feel different. Music is a direct connection to a person's emotions.
Normally, one would have to start a shitstorm against "The Friday Prophets". They have declared their music as free for commercial use. According to my understanding, the songs remain commercially usable even after a change of the usage condition, because they were and were already used that way. Only songs that are released after changing the terms of use are then excluded from commercial use.
I can't blame DPC for removing these songs from the game, because it could lead to a legal confrontation, which could not only bring financial losses, but also cost time, which DPC then lacks for the further development of the game.
My guess. The Friday Prophets may not be as successful. I just googled what I can find about this band. It's not very much. Maybe they just want a piece of the DPC pie.
reward is a misleading discription here...in what sense?
in chapter 8, you may or may not tell Sage about Troy.
if you don't tell him, DPC rewards you with a sex scene with Sage (a "well awake" blowjob)
(Almost) No one wants their own music playing during a bunch of pervert's masturbation. This isn't a dumb move...Logic but also a dumb move from that band ....
DPC rewards you, that is an objective fact, then in the long term you will seereward is a misleading discription here...
If you dont tell her this, her mood is just not down cause of the news... but it is very clear, that its better to tell her if you are into her. It shows a stronger bond between them, youll get intimate cuddling time with her and she is very thankful... of course she isnt in the mood for sex after such news... and i think it will be a issue in the future with her if you dont tell her and she will find out another way. maybe even a relationship break up if you decide you want something serious with her...
That said, i think, if you want to be just her fuckbuddy, well, so be it, you dont have to tell her....
If you want something serious with her, i would say its much better to tell her. I dont think any future girlfriend in life would appreciate it if you dont tell her something like that and youre in a bad position afterwards
the same courage as a whole genre that rather than calling itself porn, is called AVN, where the A stands for porn ...Sex, drugs and rock and roll.... but we draw the line at porn.....because it's bad and we have morals.
I don't really care because I turn off the music when I play any game.
After 4 years ?(Almost) No one wants their own music playing during a bunch of pervert's masturbation. This isn't a dumb move...

they don't make a penny out of it and their only micro fame is from "porn", it doesn't seem to me that it's that big a deal
they gave the song for free use probably hoping for a return of fame, which despite BADIK they obviously didn't get at all
of course if DPC had paid it would have been a different matter
It's not about fame for them, it's about money. DPC is very successful with BaDIK and earns a lot of money. The band is not so successful. They probably have their current reputation only because of BaDIK. But what they don't have is money.but between being an unknown and probably already dead band, and being an unknown and probably already dead band, but one whose song is used by a porn game, can you explain to me why one would choose the latter?
