Idk about making it longer. It's a tricky thing, because they never really knew what they were or how deep their feelings really ran. It might've been much worse to spend more time with MC and Zoey, just to show how great they are together but for Zoey to still be like "we're just friends with benefits" and MC to just go along with it because he was a pussy back then and didn't speak his mind. Or on the flip side, Zoey turns out to not be super likable, and then the player is stuck with her even longer and maybe even hoping MC dumps her ass ASAP (that sentiment is already present).

Maybe he wants another Steam payday, the game sold very well there.

Its not the most likely option, but I could see it happening.

He's said that he needs at least 14 episodes to finish the story, with 16 probably being the maximum. If he really does stop with Episode 14, I think the Interlude will be looked at as an even bigger waste of time, especially because the timeframes of each new episode now have to encompass a least a month.

No it'll be a crossover with one of the supernatural AVNs, or a preview of his next game, inspired by movies like this

Then again, I did read in the reddit that the special annoucement will be that EP 11 will be the last for season 3 since tecnically it already has 4 parts with the interlude. It could be the way DPC deals with the longer cycle, justifying the longer wait as a seaso finale and steam release.

It could be possible and I doubt it would much work since every EPs already ends in a cliffhanger.

Even the EP title helps a bit in that sense.

Thats interesting, maybe the announcement will be that Steam will recieve the updates at the same time as Patreon from now on, and every episode will come as a update on Steam, instead of having to wait for Season 3 to complete. (The price of the season would still be the same we will just get the updates sooner)

Other than that I remember DPC saying that Sage was the banner girl for Season 3 so I belive we will see the full render of this pic in the announcement.

Most animations should be simple to render, but the sheer amount left doesn't help.

He probably needs the entirety of Dec and Jan to render everything (considering a few hundred statics are still required)

Also, the beta, so no update before late february/early march.

Static renders don't take as long to render unlike animations. I think even the heaviest scenes are rendered in an hour at worst. I wouldn't take them into account at all.
Static renders won't slow down, it will rely on the rendering speed of animations anyway.
While the animations are rendering he'll have time to not only polish the game, but also start developing ep12 like he did last cycle.

Just a theory about what the "Special Annoucement" will be.

Considering its a Season 3 annoucement I thought it was possible.

He could just annouce that the season is now 75-80% done, but I doubt that would require such fanfare.

At this point it will be either this, a new band or merch.

Let's just hope it won't be another thing that will slow down the game development.

Just a few corrections, DPC doesn't start the beta until after all animations are done (yes that's stupid) and the last lewd scene might need more than ten animations, DPC mentioned 10-20 in a previous report.

Well... By "polishing" I'm sure he means also playing the finished game to evaluate if the user experience is what he had in mind.

And this can be done only when all the WEBMs are ready, otherwise he can't evaluate if the game "flows well" cinematically speaking in the final user experience.

out of the three hundred and something animations there are only left 70 something animations. he can try them letter , meanwhile he can beta test the one made. then beta testing with the remaining animations included will be faster.

mean while he can do the labour intensive beta testing and polishing while the rest of the animations are being rendered. he can replace the missing animations with some art as placeholder, he can test and polish as much as he want. then it will be replacing the arts with the real animations once they are done.

I would have made Interlude larger, not 700 renders, but at least 1200, but spending more time on the backstory of Zoey/MC, making San Diego one of the arcs, but not major content. To create an emotional connection with the character more efficiently. Making a story in 5 renders is ridiculous.
And even if she had her fun in San-Diego it would be okay, because that time she was a free girl without obligations.

In a hypothetically better interlude sure. With the one he made I feel like it'd have been better off not existing at all than been extended. It was downhill once she got on the train. I only played the interlude for the first time recently and it’s noticeably different because suddenly fuck all is happening. If you've played dragon age origins it's the fade seciton of Being a Dik. Personally it was a drag to play and I doubt I will ever play it again.

There's nothing in there that couldn't have been explained by Zoey to fuckface in one convo when in his room. I don't think it even needed renders at all, as in not even one singular render and I'm not joking for what happens in san diego. Zoey could've just relayed it and boom convo moves on. I could give less of a fuck how long a dev takes, I ain't paying but (personal opinion) the interlude felt like a waste of time while playing it. It's a extrano episode we go from college story to day in the life of a celibate tattooist. I've enjoyed this more than any other AVN I've played so far but the interlude felt like a massive quality drop. To the extent I used the searchbar here to check if DPC actually wrote it himself or farmed it out. The last two episodes got me invested in Zoey more than the interlude did ironically. Not every dev can hit all the time and the interlude feels like a big DPC swing and miss. I don't think that's a big deal every game has shit parts but it's a shame it's not a lot better or more plot relevant.

And even if she had her fun in San-Diego it would be okay, because that time she was a free girl without obligations.

Would it have actually upset people on his patreon if she'd fucked anyone? She's single and well aren't we all here to see sex scenes I know this site apparently has an NTR thing but that's not cuck stuff. Girl didn't even get a scene with a vibe, she going to explode when she finally gets some.
