Just a few corrections, DPC doesn't start the beta until after all animations are done (yes that's stupid) and the last lewd scene might need more than ten animations, DPC mentioned 10-20 in a previous report.

yes, that is what i was angry about.
it does not make sense that he does not start beta testing now. it have nothing to do with the animation completion

Well... By "polishing" I'm sure he means also playing the finished game to evaluate if the user experience is what he had in mind.

And this can be done only when all the WEBMs are ready, otherwise he can't evaluate if the game "flows well" cinematically speaking in the final user experience.

out of the three hundred and something animations there are only left 70 something animations. he can try them letter , meanwhile he can beta test the one made. then beta testing with the remaining animations included will be faster.

mean while he can do the labour intensive beta testing and polishing while the rest of the animations are being rendered. he can replace the missing animations with some art as placeholder, he can test and polish as much as he want. then it will be replacing the arts with the real animations once they are done.

I would have made Interlude larger, not 700 renders, but at least 1200, but spending more time on the backstory of Zoey/MC, making San Diego one of the arcs, but not major content. To create an emotional connection with the character more efficiently. Making a story in 5 renders is ridiculous.
And even if she had her fun in San-Diego it would be okay, because that time she was a free girl without obligations.

In a hypothetically better interlude sure. With the one he made I feel like it'd have been better off not existing at all than been extended. It was downhill once she got on the train. I only played the interlude for the first time recently and it’s noticeably different because suddenly fuck all is happening. If you've played dragon age origins it's the fade seciton of Being a Dik. Personally it was a drag to play and I doubt I will ever play it again.

There's nothing in there that couldn't have been explained by Zoey to fuckface in one convo when in his room. I don't think it even needed renders at all, as in not even one singular render and I'm not joking for what happens in san diego. Zoey could've just relayed it and boom convo moves on. I could give less of a fuck how long a dev takes, I ain't paying but (personal opinion) the interlude felt like a waste of time while playing it. It's a extrano episode we go from college story to day in the life of a celibate tattooist. I've enjoyed this more than any other AVN I've played so far but the interlude felt like a massive quality drop. To the extent I used the searchbar here to check if DPC actually wrote it himself or farmed it out. The last two episodes got me invested in Zoey more than the interlude did ironically. Not every dev can hit all the time and the interlude feels like a big DPC swing and miss. I don't think that's a big deal every game has shit parts but it's a shame it's not a lot better or more plot relevant.

And even if she had her fun in San-Diego it would be okay, because that time she was a free girl without obligations.

Would it have actually upset people on his patreon if she'd fucked anyone? She's single and well aren't we all here to see sex scenes I know this site apparently has an NTR thing but that's not cuck stuff. Girl didn't even get a scene with a vibe, she going to explode when she finally gets some.

Last update he had to wait 2-3 weeks doing mostly nothing just for the queue to end and beta could start.

that is that, i don't know why he did that.

while We do any programming on any project face similar situations like this, here is what we do here.

- if there is some content that needs to be added in the code, and i do not have it yet, you know what i do.
- we replace it with some sample MOCK code and do the rest.

- then we finish the whole project and test the whole software.

- when that missing content i want becomes available to me , i will add that new content and TEST just that newly added content swiftly that's it.

I'm sure I read in one of DPC's Q&A things he does occasionally that the Interlude was him taking a break from BAD. Didn't he say he wanted to write new characters in a new location to get some distance and 're-charge' himself?

I personally quite liked the Interlude. Zoey had been painted in a bad light by MC telling Bella his version of events (Ep 3 I think) and now we got to see her side, and as with everything, the truth is somewhere in between.

I also think Interlude(IL) gets more hate that it deserves because of Ep 9. A lot (most?) of people, including myself, were disappointed by the lack of story and plot development in Ep 9, and were annoyed almost the entire Ep was one party over a single night. I think a lot of people throw shade at IL because 'if he hadn't done that, Ep 9 would have been bigger and better' which just isn't true. The Halloween party was going to be the Halloween party, irrespective of IL.

Personally I think the Episode 9 should have been called 'Interlude', because that's what it was. An Interlude from the main story, spending one night getting pissed/fucked, where the plot took a back seat.

When Season 3 is complete, and we get a chance to play the whole thing through without having to wait 12 months between episodes, I think IL will be looked on more favourably because then it will 'fit'. No development cycle delay nonsense clouding the issue, this is the whole season, this is how its supposed to be, and it will work.

Last cycle when the animations were still rendering and all the polishing and alpha testing was complete, he started planning the next episode.
He probably knows this, but uses the rendering time for other tasks.

I get it. The implementation wasn't quite right, the abrupt change in narrative threw you off track. For someone like me, it was a breath of fresh air, for you, it was an annoyance. I agree with the weak implementation, but I don't think it's acceptable to tell their backstory in a text version. After all, we're not playing a book, but a visual novel.

Militant anti-NTR mobs would start a crusade against the dev and the game, a couple of years ago it was even more serious drama, now it's more calm. These people can shout REEEE NTR! even if LI is just talking to another male character. And the subreddit has a no-ntr fan-art rule, moderator there deletes any such works.

Probably he did developed his skills by working 20-30 years as an empoyee having to obey to his Project Manager, then when he was skilled enough he decided that to be rich (and most of all to be owner of his own life) he had to be self-employed.
