Lets take a project from the same Dev, Acting Lessons had a good story, a nice twist and a fast pace in updates.
The game was first posted here May 2 2018 and the final update August 12 2019, in my book, that's fast.
Now Badick, first posted here February 7 2019 and last updated here Marsh 9 2025. 6 years in the making and we can't see an end in sight, the updates are really long, almost a year for so few content and like a said, that hybride thing where you have a VN and sandbox in the game is not doing it for me.
So you want thought in my criticism, here it goes.
1- 6 year in the making is too long for a VN even a game, two maybe three year is a good lenght of time so that the player doesn't lose interest in the game and even the Dev himself.
ILS production is doing nice VNs in a span of 2 to 3 year to a complete VN and update are pratically on a monthly basis with a lot of content in it, THAT what i call fast pace. i'm not asking that for all games and VN, but between montly updates and yearly updates there's a lot of time to choses a nice pace in between updates.
2- In my point of view, updates should't go further then 6 months, because you almost have to restart the game to remember what you did before or at least start the new update a couple of saves before the last one just to dive back into the game.
3- When you develop a game or a VN, your main story should be your first priority and the side quest, your second priority. So yes, you can put side quest in a game or VN, but not to the detriment of your main story like BaDik does where most of the game time are made in side quest and grinding in the sandbox part of the game.
4- And finally, this is only my own thought, liking and wants when i play a game or a VN, if i'm alone in thoses likings and wants, the dev won't change a thing and leave his project as is, but if a lot of players think like me, then the dev might take that in to consideration when doing his project and/or future projects, after all, if few people contribute to his project, he won't make money and do like a lot of dev do and abandon his project, but if a lot more people contribute to his project, he will make even more money, if i don't say a thing and a lot of people do the same, well the dev will lose supporters, like i did when i deleted the game. i hope, for DPK that not to many people does like me, because if i don't like BaDik, i loved Acting Lessons and i don't want DPK to stop doing game, i just want him to do more like he did with Acting Lessons.
